SETTING UPDATES

• The flowers of spring continue to bloom, and it may be the only bright spot to an otherwise dreary month. Heavy cloud coverage hovers in the sky, and throughout the month anything from a light rain to heavy storms can occur at any given moment. With the rain comes more fog than usual… The sky rift will remain open and visible despite the cloud cover. The occasional eye still passes by it.
• And unusual lights within the fog. But more on that below!
• The nature spirits, commonly known as plantimals, are freaking out about something. This includes running around at top speeds before freezing with big wide eyes, watching the skies fearfully, twitching, calling out and trying to hide at any provocation. Wild ones who haven’t been adopted by players may even attack if frightened enough.
• Near the edge of the Grove, a large tree with a pitch black hole large enough to walk through has appeared… or it would be large enough to walk through if one could actually walk through it. A barrier seems to prevent entry, and the darkness prevents any snooping… at first. Old lanterns hang off its branches, and one by one they light up without a source.
• During the month, those who venture to the beach may notice that the sea is especially violent.
• Speaking of the beach, we’ve been forgetting to mention but Allen opened an Ark Gateway that will take everyone to the beach - it sits by the inn and will take people roughly to where the cabanas are. This basically functions as a magical doorway/teleportation and is there permanently. Yay, hooray!
  • If this isn’t on the Locations page within 24 hours of this plotting post going up, kill Wolfie with hammers. Signed, Wolfie.

PLOT UPDATES

• New arrivals will wake up scattered across the Grove holding their weapons- or makeshift weapons that they might have picked up somewhere familiar, anything can hurt if you’re holding it right- and will find themselves either frozen in place for a moment mid-swing, or actually attacking someone or something. They don’t remember what they were doing before this. But they may recall something urging them to fight.
• The Grove is filled with fog from the rains, and with it those unusual lights. Though they are stationary, those who go outside may find themselves drawn to the lights, and approaching them will bring you to a memory of another resident or guest of the Grove.
• The lights do not move but may just… dim long enough to lure someone into a false sense of security.
• Midway through the month residents of the Grove will find themselves in the dark? Or is it. Before them will be several bracelets that they must feel for and put on before their sight returns. Wearing these bracelets links your emotions to another resident’s. Upon finding your link your bracelets will shift into handcuffs for a few rooms before you can either stay together or risk working with another person.
• Wearing more than two bracelets/handcuffs will overwhelm the mind and body with too many emotions and drive them to temporary blindness and a migraine. Do not do this. Or do and suffer. I’m not your mom.
• The first few rooms and halls will leave your characters disarmed and semi-nerfed. You will discover your weapons or regain full control as you explore.
  • By disarmed we mean no weapons follow you into the labyrinth, and you can’t summon them either, even if they’re physically part of you. No Allen we are not removing your arm you just can’t activate it.
  • Grove magic still works, but native powers your character has will not.
• Your goal is to work with your bond buddy to escape the labyrinth, a dark damp maze of ruins and roots that's lit from cracks up above! Trying to escape through the cracks will get you attacked by the roots, so be sure to play by the rules.
• However, as you navigate the maze, there will be threats. This can range from minotaurs prowling the ancient halls, the vines and roots rearranging the paths no matter who or what is underfoot or the things that haunt your character the most manifesting within the maze, be they fears or regrets.
• Staying in one place for too long may also have its risks- the longer you stay in one room, the more irritable you may get. The more irritable you get, the lower your inhibitions. With the emotion link in play, things may get… testy.
• Upon reaching the center of the labyrinth, you can escape, leading out back into the Grove through the lantern-lit tree. In the center will be a wall of vines and roots where those who fail and/or die will be trapped and drained of all energy. Better cut them down!
• Death in the labyrinth does not count towards the Garden, but will have optional unpleasant effects including corruption-like symptoms, actual corruption, or potential body horror.
  • Dragon-blessed players cannot be Corrupted, but they may still choose to have fake symptoms for fun. :)
• The length of the labyrinth is up to players as it is a magic, shifting hellscape labyrinth, but for fun you have the option of rolling a dice to see how many rooms you have to pass.
• Once the final person is freed from the labyrinth and the final lantern on the tree is lit, it will vanish leaving only old rusted metal lanterns behind.
• The month will close out on a heavy rain storm heralded by the Cosmic Serpent. Its iridescent rains will purify corruption and wash away the strange lights before it turns to regular rain as he returns to her naps, leaving a melancholy mood…
• But with rain comes the rainbow at the end.

CR: White Lily Cookie is at this point, the Grove mom. She's not sure how this happened, to be honest. She runs the clinic and is working on improving her healing skill to do better at this, but she's a giant nerd in general to be honest. Despite her kind nature, she holds a lot of guilt for... uh. Everything. On account of hella internalized ableism, being made of a toxic flower and it showing in her very skin, the forbidden magic, the trying to understand things beyond mortal ken, and her evil clone's crimes that are separate from her existence and yet everyone and their dog blames lily for instead--
Plans: I'm going to be canon updating her very soon, so shes gonna be put through the wringer emotionally; her canon update will go up til her death, so she'll have a lot of emotional and physical pain to work through. She'll also be in YdalirQuest, so hopefully that helps!

Memshare events will include her childhood friendship with Pure Vanilla Cookie, her being bullied/ostracized by her classmates, one of her early adventures before gaining the Soul Jam maybe?, and some time with her friends afterwards... and of course the night of the Witch's Banquet and her time in the Ultimate Dough, and MAYBE her time in the Rift before her death. ... She doesn't have a lot of happy memories. :(

Emotion Link Labyrinth plans are to wing it, or I may do that as a secondary toplevel after I have a better idea of how YdalirQuest will go and affect her. That said, come link up with Mom! :D

Character: Shinobu Kocho
Canon: Demon Slayer
CR: Shinobu is a more recent arrival who's kept to herself for a bit on account of the last thing she remembers is her own brutal death, and then her social life exploded somehow. She's doing a bit better now, but is torn between clamping down on her own emotions after accidentally hurting someone innocent and being more honest and true to her actual self at Kyojuro's pleading.

Shinobu is the Insect Hashira, meaning she's the best (and...only) of her particular style of fighting and essentially the highest rank in the Demon Slayer Corps one can be. She's also a doctor, physical therapist, psychiatrist and chemist- she makes both medicines/antidotes and her own very potent poisons. So much so that she's infused 700 times a lethal dosage of anti-demon poison into her blood. Don't worry about it.
Plans: No super concrete plans exactly, though now that Lina's bringing Kanao in possibly and she's asked Uzui to live with her for their own sakes, she might start pondering about more secure housing. Looks at Aspen. :D

Potential Memshare events: the night of her parents' death, her older sister's death, finding her tsukugos' bodies, time with the younger girls shes basically adopted, maybe some hashira sillies?, and last but not least her fight with Doma (aka her death)
(she also does not have a good life)

For the Labyrinth, while I do want to let her do a couple bits with her castmates, I also would love to shake things up and link her to new CR!

CR: He's shut down quite a bit after turning back, but the summer camp did help him be less avoidant and to reach back out somewhat. He's establishing a new status quo for himself
Plans:
For the Memshare! Options for that include... mostly unflattering memories. Notably there is the moment he was called upon to break Hollyberry Cookie's shield into pieces and how he reiterated that trying to leave is pointless. There's also the moment where he was trying to warn the group not to leave and the thinly veiled threat from his mother in response. You all get to see him get his wings clipped too, as a treat. These serve to foreshadow his attitude in the maze. Other fun sprinkle ins are cookies trapped preserved in jam, watching someone be turned into a statue and watching one of the Garden's animals eat a butter lion.

Likewise any additions to the maze will be reminiscent of the Garden such as to make him think he's trapped there again. This will make him very scared and uncooperative! Which will probably be frustrating for whoever he's with.

Not Seeking: I don't see him dying this month. Counterintuitive for getting through the maze.

Anything Else: anyone's welcome to link up with him for a bit, but it's likely that he'll end it with someone from his world only because they're stubborn enough to not leave his ass in there. Feel free to prove me wrong tho

CR: Not a whole lot has changed on his end. He's a little hard to bond with if you didn't know him already. He hates being patronized due to his age and is quite sick of people saying "stop doing the thing you feel helpful doing because you're small." He's going to start biting.

He is a very sweet person though. He loves very fiercely and is quite attentive of his two crushes

Plans:
People get to see his past now! Particularly his mother getting sick and worsening, followed by his father leaving to get medicine and dying as well. People will alternatively be able to witness the arguments that followed with his brother, the way the idea of becoming a slayer gave him hope that Yuichiro immediately shot down, followed swiftly by his brother protecting him and the demon attack that killed him.

His own death is also an option!

As for the maze I'm down for anything. I'll probably tag out to make sure he has some forced variety in his cr.

Not Seeking: nothing in particular is off the table, but I don't see him dying in the maze.

Character: Yu Kanda
Canon: D.Gray-Man, a 22 year old series about what if the 1800s was worse and the consequences of religious zealotry
CR: Kanda is a bitch- he's mean he's grouchy he doesn't want to people and he's pissed off at the world. He is also Less Catholic than the rest of the cast of DGM but still fairly Catholic overall. He works for a semi-secret society called the Black Order, in which he's an Exorcist who kills the weapons of the bigbads (the Millennium Earl + Noah Clan) (I guess no one in 1800s England is naming their kids Noah in this universe??) known as Akuma. That's about as simple as you can get with a summary, this canon is complex beyond that point.

The thing about Kanda that sets him apart from others is that he was actually created in a lab as part of a program to make artificial exorcists using the brains of others that had died in battle. He was the only "successful" experiment; the others either didn't live long enough to even wake up, or were his childhood friend/lover in a past life Alma who went insane due to the CIRCUMSTANCES OF BEING and killed everyone in the building, Kanda himself almost included in this. Kanda thought he killed Alma back then. 9 years passed and it turned out the living branches of the Black Order simply took Alma's body and used it for those 9 years while comatose to harvest cells from and create a new program of artificial exorcists. So he had to kill Alma a SECOND TIME and this time Alma died in his goddamn arms. Chat, they were in love. Alma confesses to him as he dies. So anyway Kanda has goddamn issues and they started from the point he crawled out of a hole in the floor and have not ended since. Also imagine being gay in the 1800s because oof. (Sidebar, if you really want to trigger him like at all just say Alma's name he will go Batshit Immediately.)

Anyway he has a katana and a temper problem which would only be the third goddamn guy I play like this. I don't know what it is about me grabbing queer boys with black hair and katanas who are attracted to holy boys, but I need to be taken out back.

Anyway, back to the main story stuff: Kanda and Allen also have Shit Goin' On. Kanda chases after Allen for three fucking months to protect him during Allen's Fugitive Arc (complicated) and they previously didn't even have a good relationship so lmao... can you say "tsundere"? The canon point I've pulled him from is just after they parted again so Kanda could go do some work into figuring out what was going on with Allen to help him solve that issue. Now he's trying to do that Here In Stickbones but he's being lowkey about it (he thinks he's being lowkey about it). He's also coming off of Alma's very recent death atp and is still sore about this.

Plans: If you want memshare here are the things available to you:
- childhood with alma (in which i will cry behind my screen writing it)
- the battle with alma/allen/the noah clan/the third exorcists (that arc is a lot) in which he had to kill alma (in which i will cry b

Canon: Pokemon Legends: Z-A
CR: I don't have the energy to write this all in a neat paragraph so you get a bullet list instead bc he has too much happening.
- He is implied to have grown up partly in Galar. I like to imagine he has the worst accent possible (british/french mix).
- Right now his team consists of one (1) Meganium, one (1) male Meowstic, and one (1) Eternal Flower Floette. That is all his powered Pokemon slots and anything he gets from here will be a baby with no powers for snugs. Floette is usually out of her Pokeball and accompanying him.
- He likes photography/film (both looking at and making) and cooking. Despite being quirky with his cooking it's stated to be Very Good Food, he will cook for u. He will also probably film skits with you even though tiktok doesn't work here—
- He is completely financially illiterate, which like thank god we don't have a real economy here or he'd be in trouble. I'm sure I'll find a way to make him in trouble with shells and bones though.
- He wants to be the most helpful person in the room at any one time and has a hard time letting go of responsibility, which will do well in a dwrp game where literally every other character is the exact same in this respect closes my eyes.
- The boy has no combat ability but is very physically fit since Lumiose is full of parkour these days and dodging the shit in the wild zones, so like. Don't expect him to fight anything ever, but do expect him to dodge very well and probably be on your roof.
- Right now his canonpoint is at the end of the base game, right before the last main story quest of the base game concludes. That means he doesn't know about a certain NPC yet.
- Local man has experienced the horrors, more at 10... like he already has PTSD surely we can make this worse right.
- His mom died when he was young; there's no stated age as to when she died but this is a pretty regular trauma point for him. Timeline wise I usually put her death at when he was like, 10-12ish somewhere in there. Anyway, the jacket he has is his mom's, and he very rarely takes it off. His deadbeat dad is nowhere to be fucking found, and his mom kept him a closely-guarded secret for some reason. We don't know anyone else in the family until postgame and dad NEVER comes up so I imagine this man is just. Idk he fucked Urbain's mom and dipped.
- He has nearly starved to death several times :') dwbi. It's implied he was homeless for a very long time and that Emma found him in the streets and was like hey AZ??? Uh- so AZ effectively becomes his adoptive father figure. And then at the end of the base game he came home and found AZ fucking dead, so.
- One time he took out a loan from the mob (not a good idea!!!) re: financial illiteracy. Don't worry no one has ever let him live this down.
- He has been part of the Horrors™ previously. This is where we get into vague headcanon territory but I'm just saying: if Prism Tower explodes while he's at the top of it, in it, with a bunch of living weapon plant tentacles flailing about... there's no way he came out of that unscarred closes my eyes. I know this is Pokemon but I also know he realistically probably left this situation with a concussion and several broken ribs at minimum. Anyway, iykyk this entire event was very fucked up so I (gestures at him) will be playing him with an amount of physical scarring that one would get from being inside a collapsing tower when it explodes after it briefly gained sentience. Don't worry about this either.
- In a more ideal world I'd happily claim he was body horror'd like people's AUs on twitter where he sort of fused with Ange and had a flower growing out of his skull but :') Since this is a new/popular canon I hesitate to stick to a big headcanon like this. Guess I'll be taking his eye another way oh nooooo

For Stix: He's learning to do a healing magic! he wants to be a helpful boy. I may multiclass him later but he's defended by one (1) Floette who kills people so he'll be fine for now. Also please handwave if your character has a birthday that Urbain brings them a cake thanks, he's got everyone's birthdays down (who told him them anyway).

Plans: Urbain actually has a few mems to share but they're like for the most part... pretty lowkey in that it's not exactly high fantasy. Like it is it's Pokemon. But he's not fighting things with swords if that makes sense. Here is my list:
- the time his mom died when he was young and then living on the streets for a while, of which i will have to make up because gamefreak didn't actually give us more info than hints
- climbing prism tower and nearly fucking dying (if you choose this option i will body horror the fuck out of him because i think nintendo were cowards for not doing so) (also you can't tell me that that tower exploded with him still inside it and he walked away FINE, gamefreak)
- if i have enough AC to bump his magic AND canon update him, i could do anything from the DLC (becoming quasartico's CEO which would be hilarious/low stress, or going into the nightmare realm and meeting darkrai but also crying because AZ died)

CR: Wolfwood is from a desolate alien planet known as No Man's Land that humanity crash landed on after escaping earth now that it's become basically uninhabitable in the far-flung future. Well turns out this new planet is almost worse, and there's plenty of worse dangers than the overwhelming desert heat and the man-eating worms, if you could believe it.

Wolfwood is part of a religious cult that worships Plants (aka alien beings that the planet relies on for energy, water, food, basically everything needed to sustain life) and he really doesn't want to be here actually!! He's an assassin who basically does what he's told because the children at the orphanage he comes from would suffer if he didn't. He's a bitter, jaded, prickly man with a heart that's very soft and gooey on the inside.

Plans:

SO FIRST TO NOTE: I am canon updating Wolfwood the first week of April meaning he will be unconscious for a week before he wakes back up. He will be showing visual changes that coincide with some big spoilers for Stargaze which I will CW for but if you're trying to avoid those just be aware! This also means that he could be potentially sharing memories from Stargaze as well, but I can avoid those if desired.

-his childhood in Hopeland orphanage, mainly the more positive memories he has...just the fact he was an orphan and shit you know the drill

CR: Alien Stage, if you've never seen it, is pretty fucked up. It's essentially: Earth was invaded by aliens, humans were kidnapped by said aliens, and now those aliens treat humans like pets that they can do whatever the hell they want with. Some aliens treat them more like lapdogs, others treat them like property, but it's all bad. At the core of it all is the Stage, where humans are trained from a young age to sing and perform for said aliens to be prospects to one day compete in a live-broadcast competition where these humans will sing in pairs, one against the other, and whoever gets the most points moves on to the next round. Whoever loses gets executed on the stage.

Till is, and has always been, one of the "problem children", and thus wasn't wanted for most of his life. He's treated incredibly poorly by the alien who owns him, and he's a constant source of rebellion and difficulty. He wants nothing more than to be free with the people he cares about, but finding that freedom is difficult when it's a matter of life and death.

CR: Corbeau is the head of the usual sort of titular "antagonist" team of Z-A known as the Rust Syndicate. It operates VERY much like a mafia of sorts, and though Corbeau puts out an impression of being a very dangerous person who you don't want to make a deal with...he does this so purposefully, because he has every intention of forcing people to clean up the city where they wouldn't otherwise. The tasks he gives those under his "employment" include cleaning up the city, helping Pokemon and people in need, etc. He's very much a "make them swim with the fishes...and by swim I mean go help the fish get unstuck from this drain pipe" type guy. He's got a short temper and is like 4 feet tall, do not underestimate this man he is small and full of righteous anger.

Canon: D. Gray-Man
CR: Link is a (former) Inspector with what's known in his world as the Central Agency, an organization that is responsible for overseeing the retrieval of Innocence and the training/monitoring of Exorcists who have synchronized with said Innocence. While he himself is not an Exorcist, he has been raised from childhood to be an incredibly skilled fighter, basically kindof like an undercover assassin type sort with less (intentional) killing. I only play one type of person.

CR: He's currently getting used to not being such a regular dude. He has a fair bit of magic at this point and is working particularly hard at improving his healing. Min is also a musician. He plays the synth and is in a band with Ryan. He will always be eager to talk music with people, whether it be his, theirs, or other bands.
Plans: Min-Gi is signed up for Ydalirquest! This will be my focus for the early part of the month to make sure we can make progress, and so I know a little more what's going on with him for the rest of the month. Obviously we do not know teams for this yet, but please see here for full details. The short version is he is blue with very vague moon bear influences and has two emotional support unicorns. Their names are Dorothy and Rose and they WILL get a write up at some point before Ydalirquest.

I do want to take part in the main plot though! All of this will feel like such an invasion to Min, but please witness his memories/become his lab(yrinth) partner. I think it'd be a lot of fun to put his defensive mini-synth magic to use a bit more, and maybe give him more experience with his healing magic. By mid-month I'm hoping I'll have been able to put in for tier two, but we'll see!

Memory options may include:

• Childhood. There are canon scenes I could use for this, but I also have headcanons I stole from Billie Sue so you get Ryan's sisters teaching him how to not have a horrible bowlcut so this is what you're getting.


• Weird train memories! I'm not totally decided on which ones, but these will be more negative. Potential memories here are from the astro queue car (realising not everything is Ryan's fault and maybe HE'S part of the reason they stuck on the train), the party car (insecurities about doing the things he wants to do), or the mega maze car (Ryan's life is so cool when he's boring and obviously sucks).


• Performing with Ryan in teeny clubs. Maybe you get a headcanon memory here, I don't know yet.

CR: Bristliest fucking guy on the planet who spawned in during summer camp fresh off losing his last family member! Sanemi is relatively close with his cast, but given he's an infinitely angry and deeply traumatized person I am HOPING to expand his CR to give him some friends. Negative CR is also okay, given he's... the way he is.
Plans: Memshare ahoy! Sanemi will be participating in Ydalirquest, but I also love the opportunity to expose his deepest, darkest parts outside of Ydalirquest, so! Most of these are going to be negative. This is where those content warnings come in, so be aware prior to reading.

• His home life wasn't great. He was poor, his father was abusive — this is actually probably one of his happier memories, though, because he was spending a lot of time at home helping his mom.
  
• The night his mother turned into a demon, killed the rest of his family, and he had to kill her as a child. Little brother called him a murderer.
  
• The nebulous period of time in which he was wandering around killing demons using his blood as bait.
  
• Happy fun times with the Hashira, because we need SOME lightness here.
  
• Maybe considering throwing in his reaction to Kagaya's death, who was the only person he wholeheartedly respected in his later years?
  
• Genya's death. Losing your last family member after trying to protect them for years sucks.

I also KIND OF want him to die in the maze. He has intense levels of survivor's guilt and does not value his own life, so it would make sense.

For memshare, he doesn't... have many memories, and certainly has no canon backstory, but I have some headcanons I can whip out for traumadumping purposes. And for the labyrinth... he'd be a decent partner for most of it, pretty even keel... but is so weak to mental influence so the emotional feedback loop could get really bad really fast depending on who he ends up with whoops-

Once upon a time there were two sisters, Polyxia and Castorice, who loved each other very much, and that isn't allowed in a Hoyo game so they decided to suffer. In order for Polyxia to assume the title of Death (Thanatos) and keep the world alive, Castorice sacrificed herself. When Polyxia and her colleagues succeeded in ushering in peace as newborn gods, Polyxia used her almost all of her power to take Castorice's soul and bring back to life. Her power manifested as a Dragon that bore Castorice back to the land of the living. However, as a result, Castorice was left with a curse, the result of which meant that everything she touches dies. Including flowers and grass. Yay!

Castorice is more or less destined to assume the role of death and become a new god. Eventually she manages to do that. Then her best friend Phainon kills her.

Yeah this happens 33,550,336 times thanks to reasons. And then twice more for more reasons. Yay reasons!

Because of even more reasons, Castorice remembers every one of these deaths. Thankfully, because of somehow yet more reasons, she can now touch grass. Also the world is saved, I guess. I'm being very loose here ok otherwise this would be a mile long.

TL;DR, girl who has millions of years of memories of not being able to touch things can now touch things. Yippee.

Plans: I'm definitely looking to do things related to mem-share. Because of the aforementioned millions memories, some very silly things happened to her. And also some tragic ones. It's a mixed bag, and I'm here to play around with it. I also just want to explore her getting to... live outside of Amphoreus. It's very important. You know, for reasons.

CR: This lanky, sickly bird of a guy who is also legitimately a bird sometimes is both traumatized by the horrors and continues existing out of spite and being an overall annoyance to a god-like being. He is also the sweetest man you ever did see and would give you the shirt off his back if necessary. He's also one of the Grove's healers!

Plans: Joshua won't be going on Ydalirquest since Lily is doing that and the clinic has to have healers, it's very important. But he WILL be participating in the rest of it and boy does he have some memories for the memshare.

We got:

Positive memories! Watch this man in situations such as:
- Escaping his own childhood birthday party with his older brother's help so he can splash in the creek! Two years in a row! He also trips and falls in the water but he's fine.
- Escaping his childhood confinement indoors for health reasons to watch his older brother training as a knight!
- Peaceful, banal things after reuniting with his brother and their childhood friend after 18 years apart, including but not limited to eating, traveling, talking, and side quests!

Negative memories! Experience the trauma of things like:
- Being within five or so feet of his father as his father is violently and abruptly beheaded by an invading soldier disguised as one of their own!
- Being a giant firebird and being torn to shreds by a huge, fiery beast to the point that he nearly dies!
- Waking up from a five-year coma, where he has aged from ten to fifteen, begun puberty unawares, and has to go through intense physical therapy just to walk again!
- Holding a god-like being inside his body for five years, at the detriment of his own health!
- Dying on the floor!
