- The Divine Library has been unlocked! This is a permanent fixture, available through crossing the portal, a doorway standing within the Grove. The Divine Library will always feature a hint of randomness to it when used for explorations and settings on account of it’s very magical and ever-expanding. It’s also run by bibcoons and a mysterious spirit who is reluctant to show themselves.
- As Summer hits in full swing, so too does the heat. Residents of the Grove will find it hot, humid and muggy- especially down by the beaches, which are just as pleasant as always. Should you seem like you’re going towards the beaches, the Dragon Hatchlings may bother you to come along.
- The mushrooms continue to spread and spore, meaning that the monster transformations remain. This is purely optional, and will continue into July.
PLOT UPDATES
- Joshua (Kiryu, not Rosfield), out at Fel's shrine in the forest, has caught glimpses of what's been going on lately with Mr. Bone-Jangles teleporting everyone to a futuristic city and with the efforts made to create a portal to the Library, and… well, let's just say he's intrigued! And inspired to try a bit of magic himself, empowered by his possession of a star shard. So, he tries to reach out to his own world. Naturally, this doesn't go as planned. This means that, surprise! Some of the Grove's residents are kidnapped. Unlike Mr. Bone-Jangles' portal back in April, this kidnapping is entirely random and not isolated to one particular location. Anyone caught in the spell will hear a sound like a staticky tuning radio, and then they disappear.
- Meanwhile, throughout the Grove, old oak doors mysteriously begin to appear, some in walls like a door should be and others freestanding. Should a character enter a door, they will hear the same noise as those that have been kidnapped, and also disappear.
- Whether they've been picked up by the spell or gone through one of the doors, congratulations! They are now in a small desert community where the sun is hot, the moon is beautiful, and mysterious lights pass overhead while everyone pretends to sleep. Welcome to Night Vale!
- Night Vale is a weird place. Like, really weird. It looks like a normal town on the surface, but it's surrounded by an endless desert. If one were to try to walk out of town, they would find themselves walking a while through the desert and looping around and walking right back towards town again. Also, time doesn't work correctly there. In our situation, this translates as sometimes having been in Night Vale for a few days, but back in the Grove it's only been a couple of minutes, or vice versa. Or, time can just work on an even balance! Use this mechanic to your happiness, it's there for fun.
- Which leads me to say, you can go back and forth between the Grove and Night Vale! You just need to find an old oak door in Night Vale to get back to the Grove. This is easier said than done, as if/when you enter Night Vale through one, it isn't behind you once you get there. But don't worry! You can find them. Notably, there is always a free-standing door in the Dog Park, but no one is allowed in the Dog Park, not even dogs. It's probably fine.
- When entering Night Vale through one of the doors, it will drop you in front of one of several fun locations! This does not mean you are restricted to that location, though. Have fun exploring the town! A map will be provided in the IC log. Deposit locations are as follows:

- The Moonlite All-Nite Diner
- The Hole in the Vacant Lot Out Back of the Ralphs

- Also, there are radios everywhere! Both old fashioned and newfangled. They're popping up all over the Grove, too. Most of the time they're quiet, but off and on during the day, a local radio show comes on. Even if a radio is turned off, it will turn on for the broadcast. If a radio is destroyed, a new one will pop up in its place. Apparently, you have to listen to it. And when you do, you might notice a familiar voice. Or don't, I'm not your dad.
- If you do notice that familiar voice, though, you might recognize it as Josh! As the instigator of the situation, the world has drawn him in to be the Voice of Night Vale, so he is the voice of each and every broadcast. Which are, like Night Vale, notably weird. He also seems to know what people are doing at any given moment and will openly talk about it on the broadcast, so if you want your character/their behavior to be put on blast on live radio, there will be a submission area for that! I won't be making daily broadcasts ICly though because that's a lot, so the submission area will sort of serve as a collection of things everyone would hear.
- There will also be an ultimate conclusion investigation! Because getting Josh out of his new profession is what will trigger the smooth separation of Night Vale from the Grove. Characters will need to break into the Night Vale Community Radio building, which will not be ICly possible until the end of the month, but I'll probably toss the log up for it mid-month or sooner. There are sign ups for this! One character per player, please.

- Any and all questions and investigations relating to the Nightvale aspect of this event will be handled by Kaed as well.
- As mentioned earlier this week, we will be making some minor tweaks to our AC policy:
- Normal AC stays the same (2 threads of 5 comments from you with 2 different characters). However, we're adding something to incentivize helping TDMers. During TDM months, submitting a thread with a new character that reaches app length (5 comments from you, enough for a TDMer to complete their app) will count for your entire AC that month. This is only usable during TDM months, meaning the month the TDM goes up. (During November & December when we don't have TDMs, AC will stay as "check in" like it was last year.)
- Any thread with a TDMed character will count for 2x the threads required for Bonus AC during any month it's redeemed - all you need to do is indicate to the mod team that it's a TDM thread in some way so we can make sure to count it properly.
- With summer coming in real life as well, we expect a lot of weather nonsense. Please stay safe and make sure you stay hydrated!

Canon: Elsword
CR: Ain is an angel and was previously trying to hide it... He's no longer trying to hide it like he does in canon because there's No Point to doing that. Anyway, largely his goal back home was to stop the world from ending (done) and defeat the evil cult that wants to end the world (in progress), and also he's made of God Rock Substance (the El) which in this game's terms basically means he's made of nuclear energy I guess. I don't know how to explain Elsword to people anymore, I've been here 15 years—
Ain is a healer, he's sweet but can be passive-aggressive and generally loves to fuck with people, he has a difficult time grasping emotions often, he has an anxiety disorder, and his definition of friendship is incredibly nebulous. Some of you have already gotten this but Ain very rarely registers negative CR, you can yell at him all you want but he'll sit there like :D we're friends! because his canon group of idiots are always arguing about something and this is just friendship to him. He... has only been around humans for 5 years he doesn't get it, okay.
for Stix: Ain runs the tailor shop and lives in the bunny bakery with Ezell. He likes gardening but he doesn't help maintain any greenhouses, he's just having fun. Despite being a healer he doesn't work in the clinic much anymore, he's largely focused on other things. You can come to him for healing still but he won't really be in there much.
So Ain is still on his "rough month" bullshit, it was looking up for him briefly and then Vash disappeared so :') he's down a boyfriend and I need to update the CR chart. He's going to backslide into full obsessive freak territory now so sorry @ existing boyfriends you might get bitten, this is how yandere lite can become yandere medium.
Plans: my plans are everything-
Monsters wise Ain will continue to be a critter. I love weird deer Ain but I think I'm gonna run with biblically accurate Ain this month because it fits the vibe of the setting and also I'll get bored making the same 2 jokes over and over.
Nightvale wise: Ain wants to go everywhere, which is a problem for toplevelling. I think for TLs i'll stick to the Harbor, THE BROWN STONE SPIRE, and probably the Moonlite All-Nite Diner. These sound fun to me.

Anything Else: i redid the formatting on ain's IC inbox. if you need him for something you better scroll REALLY FAST to the post comment box before your eyes bleed lmao. the early 2000s design did not fix my depression but looking at it Does send a shot of serotonin right to my veins.

Character: Thorns/Isidorsidebar: his event is coming out on the global arknights server in 1 week!!!! and there's a chance they're going to re-spell his real name in the localization, zzz pray this doesn't happen.
Canon: Arknights
CR: Thorns is a lot of things. In short: Pharmacologist, toxicologist, very smart but tends to unintentionally cause explosions whenever he's working, not very well put together (generally his shirt is inside out/backwards, he's missing a shoe, pants unbuttoned, hair fucked up, might've forgotten a sock... you know, the picture of a man with severe ADHD), doesn't care for his appearance, oblivious... also has a metal arm but it's Not a prosthetic it's just alchemy components that fused with him (it's complicated). His perms post on his journal has all his powers, it's a sort of ridiculous set. Most importantly he knows how to sail a ship and was Very Briefly a pirate before he instead became more of a seafaring reconnaissance & supply runner for Rhodes Island. Just know that he is not above doing a crime if it means that crime winds up serving the greater good.
Very specifically he can use his cool alchemy arm for various things (outlined on his perms page in the powers section) but the most important is that he can just. find shit with it. like a compass, or a dowsing rod. Surprise it has compass abilities. if you need shit found please hit him up.
Thorns also code switches very frequently. Any Spanish (Iberian) he speaks will be translated in hover text. Sorry mobile taggers this will be super unhelpful for you.
He is also Aegirian (Sea Urchin specifically) and like Mizuki, has ties with the Church of the Deep, except unlike Mizuki he fucking hates Seaborn and is very much struggling with the fact that y'all like them. He can slightly hear the Call, which essentially means he's been corrupted enough by being fed Seaborn secretly as a youth that he's slightly turning into one and joining the hivemind, so he tends to steer clear of the river and lies low when the evolved ones are flying.
He has a friend with him too, aptly named Baby. Baby is a type of land-faring fishlike creature known as a Salt Scale and responds to commands and orders like a dog. Sidebar: if the localization changes Baby's name i'm gONNA BLOW UP.
for Stix: Thorns currently lives at the inn, but he conducts his experiments out of Sesa's workshop now because it's explosion-proof. He briefly borrowed the clinic to run experiments on himself re: his Corruption... this did not go well but he's essentially made a biochemical weapon (yay?) that he will totally use and I will not forget he has. His goal was to reverse engineer the Corruption into a Suri poison. He will "work on this in the background" but he will not be successful because he is a mod character.
Plans:
Monster wise: I'm gonna give up on Plant Thorns, it was fun but I restricted him a little too much with the design. I think we're going with Seaborn Thorns for the remainder of the monsterification, because he'll hate it and this very well could just Happen to him like Actually, so oops.
Night Vale wise: I guarantee you Thorns is gonna try to mess with shit this month. Honestly thinking I'll sign him up for Joshquest to get him out there a little more, plus he has a particularly fun powerset + can heal (and I know I'm gonna be brainrotting over him this month lmao). Come to Joshquest for an asskicking (????)
I think he's also going to be futzing around in the pawn shop while he's here primarily, seeing if he can't find any weird odds and ends to play with. Idk I'll come up with other stuff later when I see the log probably.

Anything Else: I'm on the prowl for new CR for him since he lost some this month, he's weird and introverted but generally easy to get along with if you can stomach the flat :| way of speaking and :| sarcasm (and the occasional edgelord ramble). Inquire within to befriend a sea urchin.

CR: Wolfwood is an assassin masquerading as a Priest who has an attitude and a smoking problem, prickly on the outside yet soft and gooey on the inside. He owns a Church in the Grove that houses a bunch of plant pigeons, and has now inherited the cabin Vash purchased and keeps it with Livio currently. He's recently acquired a new creature from Silverash that he's named Abyss, but he accidentally said "Cookie" around her once and now that's all she responds to. She looks like this and will be hanging around him a lot because she's very protective and his emotions are rancid rn.
Plans: Wolfwood is NOT having a good time right now, he lost Vash last month both figuratively and literally and he is going to be a lot moodier/pricklier as a result. Do not expect this man to be on his best behavior he needs to shoot something to calm down. Which speaking of shooting, I was going to give him his Punisher back this month but I think it's funnier that Sesa got waylaid by wedding plans so he's still without it for another month womp womp-
Wolfwood is still a Werewolf, though I think I want to change up his design a little bit since his mental is in the toilet rn. He'll be appearing less fallen angel and more demonic, still wolf-like but his wings are going to be leathery and dragony, his wolf tail will be a thick demon tail, he'll have scales in select places like his belly, palms, and face, things like that.
Nightvale: I do not have any specific ideas/plans for what I want him to do be doing yet so I might just tag around with him this month, if I do TL though I think I want him to be confused and angry about the nonexistence yet continued insistence of the dog park because I think it's funny.

Anything Else: I'll mention it here and skip for the rest, but I'm going to be going on a vacation from June 30th - July 7th and will not be tagging at all! Canon: Arknights
CR: Sesa is a Vouivre (think like a Wyvern without wings) chuuni who is incredibly smart mechanically and technologically, not so much with everything else. He's got a big heart and a lot of anxiety and insecurities, and he loves video games. He owns and lives at his workshop with his fiance soon-to-be-husband Passenger. The workshop is always open for new projects, especially if you want a weapon made or something metal craft forged, though this month he will be slow due to (see below).
Plans: Sesa is getting married! Wolfie and I will be doing a log for this before the event drops, pls look forward to it. This is where most of his energy and attention will be this month, but I will be tagging around Nightvale because this sort of weirdness is his vibe. Somebody play in the arcade with him pls.

Till is a human from an alien world where aliens own humans as pets and have them compete in a yearly singing competition where the losers are killed on stage, it's not a great time!! Because of this Till is understandably a very closed-off, standoffish type of person who is difficult to get to open up much less make friends, but during his time in the Grove he's slooooowly started to come out of his shell.
Plans: So I haven't gotten any good opportunities to beat Till with a chair yet other than psychologically for the most part so I am open to throwing him into more things! I don't know if this event will have an opportunity for that but if it comes up I will not say no to it. I need to get him out more and get some more CR nurtured. He is also currently in the midst of a crisis of sexuality (this guy is incredibly bisexual but in denial) so there's that to play with as well.

Right now Pavlova is a social, kind of annoying but well meaning kid. He'll be in everyone's business so if you want him to bother your character I can just make up a reason for him to bother them. He does however come with very heavy themes attached to him regarding emotional abuse and is very much a victim of that cycle. He has never known freedom and is too scared to attempt reaching it. Depending on how observant a character is this may or may not come up, but its something to be aware of.
Plans:
Nothing suuuuper concrete. I think scaring the absolute shit out of Smilk and Lily because Pav got yoinked to night vale and can't find his way out would be interesting. I also have no concept at all of what Night Vale is. I missed that bus. Hmu if you want to deal with a strangely resigned lost child.
He's also tagging along to save Josh, as you do.
