OOC UPDATES

• We’re closer than ever to bringing our magic system to light! We hope to introduce it in a mini-event later in the month. When this occurs, we will also be making an informational announcement on our OOC comms.
  • This system is meant to be a reward for player engagement; for now all we can tell you is that the entry fee to unlock Grove magic for a character is 10 threads, and that learning the magic spell in question requires a proof thread, i.e. it cannot be handwaved. More information will be provided mid-month.
• Reminder: The Monster Mash/Transformation event will happen in May. Y’all got two more months. The mechanics have been loosely described on our last plotting post.
• AC is due today; go do it.

SETTING UPDATES

• Winter is fading to spring, perhaps faster than expected. Though it’s still chilly, the snow is melting more and more, leaving white patches of slush and mud around rather than the blanket of snow that had been present.
• However, this also means the Fog Wall is coming back, as dangerous as ever. As always, there are patches of clarity that can be used for foraging, hunting, wood gathering and the like, but the fog and its monsters are back.
• The beach is more pleasant than it has been, but the chill in the air still hangs heavy.
• Large grooves of fresh, upturned or flattened earth can be found, even within the fog, if one uses the Golden Glasses.
• Daffodils, chamomile, arctic poppy, foxgloves and lavender can be found growing amongst the flora and in clearings, alongside camellia bushes.
• The clinic has largely repaired itself! Some things are still damaged, but it’s now safe to use once again.

PLOT UPDATES

• The sun is out again and it's no longer perpetually nighttime.
• The giant tree of god flesh, the Caerula Arbor, has disappeared. The Nethersea Brand has cleared up, and you are no longer subject to random bouts of paralysis and/or memory sharing.
  • Well, it's mostly cleared up. Where the Arbor once stood is a "scar" on the land where the people-trees are deep in the woods. It's formed of Nethersea Brand and serves as a nest for some new baby Seaborn. They will largely leave you alone, but they will also shoo you off the Brand if you try to touch it. Go on, git.
• The baby Seaborn in the river are beginning to grow up. They saw some of you flying with your dragon wings, and saw Aurora as well, and a handful of them have decided that they’d like to evolve. On occasion, you will now see a flying Seaborn. You have no choice.
• However, not everything is as peaceful as you may like. Almost overnight, black and purple snakes have worked their way into the grove. They hide in bushes, in tall grass, under anything they can and if they bite, a familiar but weakened venom to those here last summer will take its hold:
  • One bite brings an intense pain, full body chills, hallucinations, and ease of bruising increases, alongside a black sun scar forming on the bite.
    • The black sun scars are permanent, as a sign of divine wrath, but can be changed by the Goddesses if asked.
  • Two bites brings an agonized sleep, not unlike a coma.
  • Three bites brings death.
    • As this is an event-related death, it will not yield trips to the Garden.
• Within the woods, two large stone snakes deposit more of the smaller snakes, guarding the paths to the Fallen Sun’s flowers as the non-poisonous ones can be used for easing the venom in medicine. They will restructure immediately upon being broken and will strike back with a vengeance — and should the larger snakes bite you, then you will be hit with the full force of the venom.
• Near the end of the month/close to April itself, characters will receive strange visions of a modernized city flashing through their dreams, and hear the distant clatter of dry bones…

Till is a human from a version of our world in which aliens have abducted all human life from Earth. It's unclear what happened to Earth, just that humanity is no longer at the top of the food chain: aliens are. The aliens that populate the world they live in treat humans like pets, raising them as if they were cattle to be sold and profited from. The main idea behind Alien Stage is really what the name both implies and outright states: children born into this world are taken to a "kindergarten" of sorts and raised to be performers, singers, musicians, to them be later bought by the highest bidder. A select number from each class will be chosen to participate in a competition in which human competitors are pit against one another to sing on stage, and whoever gets the highest score at the end of the song is allowed to proceed...while the loser is killed on stage, immediately. The aliens see it as the highest form of entertainment. It's great!!!

Till himself is a 21 year old who has progressed up past round 6 of the competition, and has uh...he's not doing super well about it. He's literally on the cusp of one of his childhood friends/classmates sacrificing himself so that he could continue on living, and on top of his other childhood friend/crush is missing and more than likely dead, he's been left with little reasons to keep going. He's considered to be a wild card and a rebel, to the point where he's one of the only contestants required to wear a collar because he acts out against his captors so frequently. In reality, Till isn't a bad person, just heavily traumatized and desperate to escape...but not if it means leaving his loved ones behind.

Plans: As Till is going to be a fresh new baby arriving into the Grove, I want literally everything. Good CR, bad CR, we can plan things or just have it shake out however it will. A fair warning in advance in that Till has never, ever seen anything beyond the world of his captivity (and even the brief glimpse he HAS had of the outside is still really nothing like Earth), and given how many of the cast have been given boons and blessings...he's going to think 99% of the people here are aliens, rip. He will also 100% just try to immediately flee into the Forest so gl-

Till is also going to be arriving wearing a collar that is specially designed so that he himself cannot remove it. It will stay around his neck until such a point someone realizes it can actually be removed. Once it is taken off he's going to try to destroy it (unsure if this is even possible), but yaknow we'll get rid of it somehow. Assuming it doesn't mysteriously reappear on his desk...BUT I wanna go the "timey wimey RP" route for this so it's not restricted to just one thread/person doing it if they want, so if your character is receptive to that sort of thing please help him if you can get past him trying to bite, he's so small.

Not Seeking: No death this early in the game, but otherwise I have no specific plans for him go nuts.

Anything Else: My usual phobias/triggers apply as with Wolfwood and Sesa, but please PLEASE if you are made uncomfortable by ANY of the subject matter in this canon, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask I do not tag you with Till. CR: A cheery young woman (21f) who definitely doesn't have anything to hide, and will stick her nose into everyone's business and try to help people. She is extremely outgoing and extroverted, so it doesn't take much to get her into a thread. Give to me all of the CR!
Plans: Steph needs to face some peril so she starts carrying a weapon around. So firstly, I would love for her to get hurt trying to protect someone. I'd prefer whoever it is doesn't die, but beyond that I'm open to whatever. She is still trying to keep Batgirl a total secret, so it would be fun if she could be forced to help someone by kicking some ass that a normal girl wouldn't be able to. It's not important whether it's a surprise to the character or not.
Beyond that, I'd love for her to meet new people, see new things, maybe get bit a couple times, let's see what happens!

She's friendly when engaged with, but there's a heavy melancholy that haunts her as well. This is because White Lily Cookie has a lot of very justified guilt (as she has opened the door to the other-realm aka the cookie afterlife, damned her school and it's staff completely, and in her search for answers on why her kind were created she was rebaked into the greatest evil of all... and her resurrection cost her greatly as well.) (and that's just the canon shit.) and has processed absolutely NOTHING beyond 'I am bad and must Atone'.

She's also divorced. :(

Plans: Lily has taken up residence in the Clinic to oversee the last aspects of it's rebuilding, restocking the things that were lost and redoing notes and less catastrophic experiments. Though she loves Pure Vanilla dearly, she believes she's not good for him and that he is not in a state to be with her, so it's for the best that she not be around as intimately as... well. A Wife would be.

Also Shadow Milk's arrival is forcing her to have to confront a lot of things she was ignoring for rest and also surviving the Grove and she is VERY not okay, actually, sorry for the bad vibes.

She will be reaching out to those who offered to help on her netbook post in February for help gathering supplies, and once the snakes appear she will be holding down the clinic and trying to get to the flowers that are being guarded. She will not be harmed by the venom because that happened to her last summer, but she is. Uh. Mildly traumatized whoopsies.

Otherwise I am praying she releases the braincell, actually.

CR: Geezus Christ, this asshole. Comes into the Grove and immediately puts himself to use trying to help everyone. Protags, amirite? Anyways, Clive is a Divine Vessel who Grew A Will and threw off his Gods plan to take over his body and remake the world so his people can come back at the cost of humanity dying. So Clive said no fuck that? He comes from right after he cast the Divine Wish to remake the world so humanity can live free without being burdened by magic and the curse that comes with it, so he has no idea if it worked or not oh well. Anyways. He's retained all his Divine Vessel abilities which means he houses elements and can summon them to whoop-ass. He can also turn into a large ass bipedal hellhound that's constantly on fire, and has a whole slew of new attacks that way. Don't worry though, he won't be doing so unless absolutely direly necessary because his death toll for the Suri battle was jumpstarting the curse in him and the dice rolls hate him so it progresses ridiculously everytime he does. Sigh.

Plans: Clive got a lot of Quests from Mama Beiwe and he doled them out. One of the main ones he's personally partaking in is clearing out Beiwe's church in the Forest of anything that may haunt it with Livio, Will and Wolfwood (scouting first), then moving it back to the Grove with some magical tokens.

Kiera (and whomever else wants to) is scouting the Crystal Cave and the Abandoned Boat at the beach to see if they're viable places for magical sigils as Beiwe suggested them, then he will ask Mizuki to place them there. The same goes for the Lighthouse, though he's asking Vash to coax Adrian into getting cured from his corruption first.

The last thing is the creation of a portal to the Divine Library, something that was upheld by Suri and Clive hopes that by taking control of it, they can gain knowledge as well as weaken the Black Sun. If it's dangerous, he wants to get as many things out as possible. Ford is leading the portal creation but Clive promised to be the go between. Every hand on deck is welcome for this one, the more the merrier. They're gonna need magic users and those who can power it and-

CR: Man, you ever go through so much trauma you turn into an entirely new person, literally? No? Just him then? So Pure Vanilla Cookie is a sweet, compassionate, loving cookie turned human who is akin to Jesus in his Canon filled with so much self-doubt it was hilarious. This Self-Doubt accumulated into him turning into an entire new Cookie called Truthless Recluse after his encounter with his Beast counterpart, Shadow Milk Cookie. Don't worry though, he got better! And returned to himself! Yay!

Except the Death Toll from the Suri battle wasn't actually him turning into TR, it was him losing his heart. That only slightly got better. Sorry. Now he's sometimes Heartless, which means he backslides into TR but also not really, cause TR actually cared very deeply he just couldn't struggle past his own self-doubt and the Deceit covering his brain to get it out. So imagine TR but actually without caring and he will murder you if he feels the need to.

Pure Vanilla is a little fucked up don't worry about it, most of the time he's the same sweet man you remember! Just with long hair now! And he can SEE with his EYES! That's so fun! He's so happy to be back and ready to kick some Suri ass.

Plans: Pure Vanilla is talking currently with Callan about Terho to figure out how to bring the man back, as well as Felicity to figure out how to help Hoku to see what can be done for the Lion if he's still hanging on. He's also learning Divine Healing from Ourania which is going to take some time of meditate which is difficult because his tormentor is in his brain now and also tied to his soul, and there may be some insanity there.

Also he will be helping with the portal into the Divine Library because of course he will?! He will also be trying to go after those snakes because he knows what they did last time.

Once upon a time Dipper and his twin sister Mabel were sent off to spend the summer with their weird great uncle Stan at his house-turned-tourist-trap in the woods. While Dipper figured it would be a boring, annoying summer, he uncovers a secret journal about the supernatural and from then on, the whole family is dragged into nonstop supernatural shenanigans, mysteries, and danger. After surviving an apocalypse orchestrated by a trillion year old chaos demon, the twins get back on the bus home at the very end of the summer.

Instead of waking up in Piedmont, California, Dipper wakes up in Deerington, Maine and then spends the next two-to-three years surviving in a horror setting. Deerington, being a nightmare dimension constructed by a dying eldritch girl, does eventually fall apart and dissolve, which leads to the people there waking up in Trench instead, aka Deer Country. Newly awakened and semi-eldritch, the people of Deerington learn to navigate the new world they're meant to build new lives in. Dipper spends a lot of this time pretty content. He has his family, he has a setting steeped in the occult to explore and learn in, and he's growing up in a setting that lets him really pursue his interests without backlash. However, their family starts slowly falling apart after the ocean begins calling them back to the sea. Stan first, and then the twins, leaving Ford alone. Bummer.

Sticks: Dipper wakes up in the Grove after spending [??????] time bobbing around in an eldritch ocean as a squid and finds, oh no! He's here all alone without his family! Something he's never dealt with before! His start here is a little rocky because he is genuinely not sure what to do with himself and doesn't trust his own ability to make friends, but hey, it turns out, this place is full of freaks and he realizes pretty fast that making friends here was super easy because he too, is a freak. Rad. Eventually his uncles turn up, too and he's even happier. They have a house in the woods now just north of what used to be the burned town.

Plans: I AM PUTTING DIPPER ON HIATUS But only like. sort of. I have a few plans with him this month (looks at Mamika) but otherwise I really want to just do all his backtags that I piled up this month with everything else going on. Worked kicked my ass and I got consumed by brainrot so time to try and catch up. I won't be dropping his old stuff just probably not starting much new.

Ensemble Stars takes place in a mostly normal modern Tokyo, but it's a Tokyo that's a little to the left. There's an insane amount of importance placed on the Idol Industry and zaibatsus are still legal for some reason?? There is also an entire clan of exiled people living under the ground and has been there for a few centuries. That would be Mayoi's family, who've been driven underground before the introduction of the koseki (aka the family registry), leaving Mayoi and his family largely undocumented people without citizenship and rights. What does little Mayoi do once he realizes he loves the sounds of singing that often filter down below? He decides to become an idol.

Boy howdy was that more than he bargained for. Either way through some insane miracle on his and his family's part, Mayoi has papers (fake) and gets into one of the most prestigious idol schools, and does his best to live a life on the surface. He gets assigned to a unit, and they get put through an insane trial-by-fire in order to keep their jobs, it all goes well and their group is starting to gain traction!

And then Mayoi ends up in Austice, which was a hellish, cold little European-style village that was full of horrors. He has a very poor time there, but he does get to spend a lot of time with people he likes, so /weighs hands. In the end, he doesn't entirely know his fate, because he remembers going off to do something in secret in the woods and then. Nothing else. He assumes he is probably turbodead!

Mayoi in Sticks is slowly building a new life for himself here. He is your current Priest of Ourania and he has a Shrine in the northern part of the Grove. He lives there with Mafuyu and their [Rapidly Growing Number] of fruit animals. He is a nervous guy but he is taking his duties very seriously!!

Plans: Mayoi always gets backburnered for all my other plans because he's such an introvert, but he is, in theory going on Renardquest!!!

CR: Joshua is the Dominant of the Phoenix and WAS set to be the next Archduke of Rosaria except everything exploded and Rosaria no longer exists, so, you know. He is a sort of Red Mage in that he can deal damage but also heal and shield, but right now he is actively trying to limit the use of his abilities unless absolutely necessary, as he is plagued by a curse that is slowly turning his insides into stone the more he uses his aether. So! There's that! But he is a very kind-hearted man and a very big nerd and he loves talking to new people and learning new things.

Plans: As Beiwe's other priest, he is helping Clive with the quests that Beiwe gave them. Mostly, his focus is on the Divine Library. He is very much interested in what lies within it, and he wants to save as much as he possibly can, if they're unable to establish a permanent connection. This is the man that wanted to turn and walk right back into a tower that just tried to kill all of them because he wanted to see what else was in there, so this is unfortunately a trend for him.

He will not be succumbing to any of the snakes, but as a healer he will be interested in finding an antivenom for those that are afflicted.
