Good afternoon, everyone! We have some exciting news to share today. Upon player request and discussion amongst ourselves, we've decided to raise the character cap to 5 characters per person, and our FAQ will update shortly to reflect this. However, this does come with some stipulations:

  • Players must continually maintain AC for all of their characters.
  • Players must demonstrate that they are active on all four characters. This means that you do not regularly boomerang at the last minute for AC checks or skirt by on the bare minimum.
We're so delighted with the love you all express for this game and want to return it in any way that we can, and this is just one way to do so.

Game Announcements!


Hi friends! Sticks & Bones is going through some changes that we wanted to address in a semi-quick announcement post. The first note we'd like to make is to welcome Wolfie ([plurk.com profile] wolfchan) to the mod team! Both mods will be responsible for the same sets of things until further notice, so you can reach out to either or both Amity & Wolfie for the same questions/concerns/player plots/other things we've forgotten to list here. Please do so using the mod contact page or ping us on the official Discord server.

Public Game Opening & Application Changes

After some discussion with the mod team and the players, we have decided to open Sticks & Bones to the public starting in August, meaning no more invites are required! This could change in the future depending on how the dominoes fall, but for now, all players are welcome to apply. The mod team has a short ban list, but it largely contains the usual suspects.

Due to the game going public, our application has changed. We now require 10-comment samples no more than a year old from you. Additionally, we have retooled the taken page so the form there is a little less intensive to fill out, and there have been some minor code tweaks all around. As always, the mod team is open to feedback, so please feel free to shout if we missed something or you have something you'd like to see/say/etc.

Rewritten Rules & FAQ Posts

Again due to the public opening of Sticks & Bones, we have retooled our FAQ Page and Rules to better reflect moving away from a for-friends-only sandbox. We recommend all players, prospective and current, give everything a once-over to make sure nothing is missed.

A special note on some of the retooling: The mod team has decided to include a new player cap of 25 people and a cast cap of 6. Currently, we have the cast cap operating under the rule of "one series, one cast" i.e. bucketing all Marvel, DC, Final Fantasy, etc big canons under one bucket for the time being. This means that when processing apps for Clive FF16, he'll be in the same "cast" as Cloud FF7. We don't foresee this being much of an issue, but if we suddenly have 6 FF16s and 4 FF7s apping, we will consider changing the cast cap appropriately.

Game Structure Changes

Summer has been rough both on the mod team and the players, and I think we can all admit that Sticks & Bones has been lacking in structure thus far. To rectify this and keep us on track in the future, we now have a game calendar. From here on, barring extenuating circumstances, we plan to have an OOC Plotting Post go up on the last Friday of the month, and an Event or TDM/Event post go up on the first Friday of the month. Our TDMs are bimonthly, meaning that the next one will be in August.

This month, we do not have a proper log, as one of the mods is moving (!!) and the other one is buried in non-hobby related work. Our mini-event will serve as this month's only mod post. Real life got hands, y'all.

Future?

The mod team is working on a Story So Far page for all the major events that have happened, as there have been quite a few! Stay tuned for that; it takes a bit to remember the last several months of plot.

Sticks & Bones has gotten off to a rough start thus far, and we are hoping to rectify it in the coming months. We don't want the game to close, after all! Hello, everyone! Sorry for the radio silence- and the delay in launching the month event. I've been sick for... well. The whole month. I just want to take care of a few things!

ACTIVITY CHECK UPDATE - Nothing bad or even changed, I just realized I was missing some information. So I've added that to the page. Hopefully this makes things easier in the future.

JUNE TDM/EVENT - The June event will double as a TDM, but will remain game canon. I'm hoping to get it up in the earlier half of the month, but I will always encourage backtagging as well. Possible setting changes will be included, thanks to Ren and Wolfie's player plot! We'll see how that goes.

INVITES - As of the 9th of June, you will be able to extend invitations to your friends! People who vibe with the game but don't know a mod are also permitted to ask for an invitation, though I do reserve the right to decline.

EMP MEME - This month, alongside a plotting meme and the TDM, I will be posting an EMP meme for possible players who don't know who to bring.

MOD TEAM EXPANSION - As you know, I was sick for like. A whole month! It sucked. It also severely delayed the game on multiple levels. To avoid this in the future I'm going to be recruiting two co-mods- and of course, the same benefits I get, they'll get (not having to do apps (though this means they won't get app clues), and their friends will be able to join without an official invite; though I would prefer they talk to me first.) 

I'm hoping that as I recover, things can pick up again. I'll be sure to be more attentive as well. Thank you for reading and again, I'm very sorry for the delays.
