FEBRUARY PLOTTING: RULER OF MY HEART

SETTING UPDATES

• Wolfwood built us a church. We know you all know because every single one of our characters have made it their personal mission to annoy the man within his own place of worship, but y’know. Zahliya, who is a Gargoyle, will now be stationed on the church roof at all times. Goodbye inn roof he’s moving out.
• Elsword has planted lemon trees near his house at the riverbank. They will spring up this month. They have eyeballs on the fruits, because lemons in this canon are just like this. Please partake of the eyeball lemons, thank you.
• The fog is going to continue to roll in until it’s back to being the oppressive wall surrounding the Grove that it started as. With it, more monsters will reawaken, though they’re no longer actively out for blood upon entry to the woods. Unless they’re hungry. That’s just hunting though, nothing personal.
• Speaking of hunting, remember the little guys from the wish festival? They’re back and breaking into anywhere warm because while the chill should keep them asleep, the forest is waking up and they don’t want to be hunted. And the warmest place? Why, your homes, of course! Characters will be able to engage with the benign plantanimals permanently! Though… with how these guys break into rooms and steal beds and nestle in closets and drawers, they may not have a choice.

PLOT UPDATES

• Upon touching another resident of the Grove, characters will find themselves in a space representing both of their hearts. Core memories, emotional states given symbolic form, meaningful items, you name it! The two sections conjoined into one are able to be explored by the two, with the ability to even interact with the space around…
• At a cost. Should either of them break something within the heart space, memories related to that something will grow hazy and fade. If you aren’t able to fix it, it will be a permanent loss.
• What would cause someone to break anything in there, anyways? Well, maybe you’re just a clutz. Maybe you have strong cat instincts. Or maybe when you touch an item representing a core memory, that core memory plays... There’s a lot of bad ones out there, after all.
• (Fixing it is flexible, get creative! Unless you want it to stay gone.)
• Meanwhile, Ydalir is handing out candy, some of which is heart shaped, to the residents! This surely has no backfir- oh wait no, no, everyone who partakes is going to feel immensely cuddly, possibly with no reservation as to who they cuddle up to. A warm and fluffy feeling towards their fellow residents will reside in their heart, encouraging affection. Whoops! Turns out mixing magic with creating will turn things into potions.

HEIMR QUEST

• Mid-month, an event regarding our shopkeeper, Heimr, will go live! Much like the above event, this will involve matters of the heart on a very metaphysical level. Characters with a positive relationship with Heimr will be brought into Heimr’s heart, with OOC sign ups below.
• Though they’ll be split up a little, the goal will be the same across the board: you must help Heimr come to terms with his guilt and the loss of his human identity of Aldric, and guide him to the final steps of embracing “Heimr” without forsaking Aldric’s legacy- this can mean his children, the good he did in the past, or something else!
• Upon finishing this event, Heimr will regain a human form, though it will not be the same as Aldric. Though there may be similarities, Heimr and Aldric cannot be one and the same- that is the cost of giving up “Alrdic” to begin with, after all.
• “Quest” events function as optional, player-controlled “choose your own adventure (with mod guidance)” type events, usually in a massive group thread and coordinated offline in the discord. They look a bit like this. At this time, signups are not limited to any certain number of characters since we are a small game, but we do have some caveats:
  • You can only play ONE character during this event (so Mizuki and N cannot both go)
  • As stated, only characters with existing positive CR with Heimr can go; this can range from “we had one nice conversation once” to “literally cried on the man and he’s my dad now”. If signups are non-existent, we will likely waive this requirement.
  • Some amount of activity is necessary; we aren’t asking you to tag 18 times a day, but we are asking you to check in at least once every 3-4 days if possible, since this is a plot-important event.
• Mod tags will only come after all involved characters have tagged in once, players have said “no skip me”, or 24 hours have passed. That said, there isn’t necessarily a tag order unless the players involved want one. We fully embrace chaos.
• If you want to sign up but don’t yet have positive CR with Heimr/have never spoken to the guy in your life, feel free to head to the NPC Contact page and request a thread — last-minute CR absolutely counts.

OOC UPDATES

• The school & rec center are now considered “unowned” buildings. They will operate normally despite this. Players are free to take IC control of these locations without sacrificing their spot for owning a building, just yell somewhere that you want to take over.
• In light of the fact that we have Church and Church (Catholic), the ruined church in the woods will be noted as “ruined church” on the locations page, and the new church will just be “church” from here on.

Ya boi didn't do too too much in January because Elsword operates on the principle of "if there's an enemy I'll fight it" and I didn't feel like writing 3000 fight logs bc I tend to stall on those. So he was fighting stuff. The thing he did do was plant the eyeball lemons, here is the eyeball lemons i finally found a picture. This is a real item you can get in this game they come from the demon realm. I wish I knew guys I wish I knew.

Anyway, this month I want to do things with him because as you know SOMEONE has amnesia that's kind of a little bit healing, but it's gonna be spotty, so I think the heartspace will sort of look... like a home that's falling apart, with random holes everywhere leading into nothingness. I'm still working on it but people will be able to walk through it with him. Please conjoin your heartspaces with him bc he'll want to hang out in yours instead bc his is gonna be all fucked up. My one caveat is I don't want anybody breaking what's left of his for obvious reasons. Please be kind to he.

Status: Gnosis is deep in his "avoid everyone don't talk to me" phase because like, three people he cared about died just this month and he's Coping by Not Coping At All. He'll be in his lab doing a lot of work and nothing else. Please someone come bother his ass. (As a side note it is not super fun to play out the man being hostile and sheltered so he'll still be around/I will still do tagouts but just know this is happening, he might be grouchy tho).

I'm not quite sure what his heartspace will look like yet, maybe it will be snowy bc Kjerag is snowy, maybe it'll look like his lab at Rhodes Island, maybe it'll be weird and be both. I'm leaning more toward snow and outdoors. Don't break anything in here pls. I think if we combine heartspaces it should just start snowing like surprise—

Status: Passenger arrived last month and kind of just existed nebulously in people's directions, that's it that's what he's got going on. He waxed poetic to Sesa about wanting to corrupt him, a totally normal thing to do, and had otherwise totally normal conversations with a couple other people. I need to put him out there more tbh. I got him a cute winter outfit tho!! He's waerm now.

His heartspace is going to have a lot of callbacks to his old professor who taught him things when he was only a baby bird, and lots of general imagery surrounding fires/burning buildings and possibly burning people depending on how dark I or anyone else wants to get here. I'm going to say in advance that Passenger's brainfires will not ignite anyone else's spaces unless you want them to?! The other important thing to note is that Little Elliot will be fully visible to everyone who shares a space with him and he will Talk to you as he normally Talks just to Passenger. It will be weird. This is the bird you go to if you want shit to get super weird.

Anyway Passenger kissed him in the Ice Castle and they're Discussing it so he's having a lot of mixed up emotions at the moment, otherwise he's been working on little mini projects like getting N's eye fixed up for him. Sesa's heartspace is going to have a lot of Sargonian imagery, think sprawling desert sands and marketplaces and little villages and the like. It's also going to feature a few unfamiliar lab spaces, and definitely part of it will be on fire for reasons. The graphic nature of this will vary depending.

Seeking: I WANT...more with Sesa, I've been doing a shit ton with Wolfwood because I keep getting ideas but I am going to definitely try to tag out more with my dragon this month. I'm looking for anything and everything tbh, positive CR, negative CR, you name it I want it.

Status: Wolfwood had such a bad January holy shit. How did he manage to get a boyfriend and then have him die on him in the same breath, why god. Also Knives is here, he guesses, he kindof hates it here? Wolfwood is recouping from basically being drama literally all of the time by having asked for a Church for the Grove, which he is now the pastor and proprietor of. Though he will not be living there- he lives with Vash in his house still- he will be there semi-frequently. Despite what he tells you, the Church is public for everyone to visit, please sit in the rafters to your heart's content. Anyway he also prayed in the Forest and maybe that was not the best idea? Tune in eventually to see if that bites him in the ass, looks anxiously at the mods

Anyway his heartspace is going to be...weird. A weird mixup of the orphanage in Hopeland he came from, lots of religious iconography, plus [siren blares bc trigun spoilers] which will potentially involve some triggering content that I'll be sure to warn for. It might not come up depending on how I end up describing things so we'll see tbh.

Seeking: Wolfwood is honestly probably going to be more chill this month than Sesa, but I still wanna do things with him obvs! They'll just generally be more light hearted, I especially want him influenced by the candy so people have the chance to hug one (1) wolf. Enjoy it while you can!

Not Seeking: Same as Sesa, no memloss at this time though I'm fine with teasing it and having it fixed later. Also I have...~plans~ for Wolfwood to die for real at some point in the future, just not during this event. Soon though :)

Status: Actually very spicy still I just had anxiety last month and probably this month as well, but Wolfwood and Vash have both gotten her acting out. ... vash bc he triggers all her "i want this but i'm scared" buttons, and wolfwood by being a dick. she may amp up the spice more on account of being done being sad, she wants to hurt things now... or she may deflate entirely and be sadder because she died again. who knows!!!

i also didnt play with fel's powers acting up more last month because i was dying actively, actually. i will strive to do the first more and the second less this month. thats also going to change. im hlding myself to it.

fel's heartspace is going to look like an overgrown garden reaching into an abandoned bedroom, with signs of violence all around- dried blood against broken glass of the window, dents in the wall, ect. definitely weapons that shouldn't be there, and... some special things! like tazers. and a torn up teddy bear. and a bottle of whiskey, don't read into it! or do! i'm not your mom.

i am down with losing memories for good, depending on the circumstances.

Status: He's here! And... honestly he's not doing much, he's staying in his lane. We should fix that because that's boring. ... And honestly with things being as they are I'm not sure if I'll keep him or not? This is his final trial I guess!!

Kreide's heart space will look like a run-down old apartment with barely anything to be honest. The items representing his memories will be ratty, old looking versions of the tokens he uses to remember others by, as well as a broken cello and a window that instead of looking outsides, looks at a stage as if the viewer is seated in the very far back, with someone standing alone, forever out of reach.

Kreide's memory is already befuckled, so I do not want to do memloss.

Aspen's Non-Human Menagerie

Vash the Stampede | Trigun Stampede (CWs for medical torture, particularly to children)

Status: Better! After dying in January, Vash spent about a week in an emotionally frozen state. Not only was he cold to the touch, but he was pretty non-responsive. Things got better as the week went on, but he's still a little mentally nervous about his own status.

Vash's heart space will look like a biodome filled with geraniums, along with a massive tree in the middle. Occasionally, a woman with dark hair might be seen in the distance, and only out of the corner of an eye. She disappears if you try to look directly at her. As for the tree itself, you can find a very ornate copy of the Christian Bible beneath it. Putting any kind of weight on the tree will cause it to transform, giving way to a glass chamber containing the dismembered body of a child.

On second thought, maybe don't touch that.

Seeking: I'd love to have Vash's CR get to see some of what makes him tick, RE: family and background. That being said -

Not Seeking: I'd like to keep things pretty light this month. While there might be some dark memories explored, and maybe some temporary breakage, I don't want Vash to lose anything permanently.

Anything Else: Candy cuddles? Candy cuddles. This guy is already affectionate enough, he just tries to keep a distance to "keep people safe." Without that boundary, though... you bastards are in for it.

Currently, he is very alive. He died during the event last month and is A Little Shaken about that, but don't worry about it. He's fine and good.

Mizuki's heartscape will be……………………… a maze. But not just any maze! Maybe a… familiar maze…
Anyway, the pellets are going to present themselves as items important to Mizuki from his past. What's more, if you talk to Mizuki, you might notice his teruteru doll change color from pink, cyan, orange or red. How peculiar! You might even notice his mood shift when it does? Weird. Strange. Why do you have the urge to say "waka waka" out loud—

Phantom | Arknights

Character: Phantom/Lucian
Status: Alive, unfortunately (according to him).

His heartspace would be either a room in a gothic castle, complete with a grand piano and sheet music, or his room onboard the Rhodes Island landship — which is more or less just an ordinary room, rather sizeable, tidy and with some knickknacks (which Phantom had obtained from some past operations/missions) placed in the corner...there's a sewing kit, too, and some felt dolls (mostly of cats, especially versions of Miss Christine, his black cat).

It depends on what mood and 'side of personality' that he's leaning to when you touch him; the former is representative of his past and bad, traumatising memories, so if he's in a bad/sad/gloomy/depressed/edgy mood, it'll be the former. His alter, Crimson Solitaire/Blood Diamond might make an appearance too so I suppose I should throw in a fair warning, although it highly depends on where the thread is going (and our goal with it).

The latter, however, represents 'Lucian', or his true personality (the thankfully still dominant one, although this is sometimes...debatable), and if he's in a good mood or was relaxed when he met you and you touched, this is where you might end up.

Seeking: Following his TDM, I'm specifically looking for a chance for him to gain more footing on the Grove and find his place there, so...perhaps something that would allow him to help your character out, especially in line with his skillset and experience. (Although please nothing too dangerous yet.)

If you're looking for someone to pick up bones and medallions from a more dangerous part of the river, for example, Phantom might be your man, providing you know how to find him. If you're dealing with a ghost infestation (they're everywhere in the Grove though)...I don't know, he might be able to look into it and talk to your ghosts or get them to follow him instead or something, but he won't be able to exorcise them.

Basically just don't ever ask him to sing (although not that he'd ever want to). But if your character needs help with something in particular, we might be able to discuss something. Getting him to adopt/cajole those cute little plantanimals guys that had broke into your room/place/kitchen whatever is possible, too, since he's good with animals. (And they should be no different than cats. He missed Miss Christine.)

Not Seeking: Romantic CR and anything shippy/smutty (CRs with sexual tension). A little negative CR is fine, but overly negative ones, not yet.
Anything Else: I'm feeling a little tentative towards candy cuddles, but if that happens, it would be strictly in the platonic sense of the word, and I'd prefer if we have a discussion + a short interaction preceding that first (to gauge my level of comfort with you).

Tentative towards the Heimr event too because I'd like to gain a footing and proper grasp of things first before I signed up for a major plot event. but I might be able to be talked into it if you specifically need Phantom for anything

For the heartspace event, I preferred that nothing is broken in Phantom's good memoryscape/heartspace (poor guy would be even more depressed than he already is if he lost whatever few good memories he's had). In his bad one, however...breaking something is alright, just nothing major, and we should definitely discuss it first.
