SETTING UPDATES

• Wolfie remembered to update the frickin map and locations page before this plotting post went out, give it up for Wolfie overcoming her executive dysfunction finally🎉🎉🎉
• The fog wall is starting to roll back in, so no more free forest vacations. While it isn’t back to fully covering most of the forest, most of it will be covered back up by the end of the month. The Golden Glasses can still be used to find the “true paths” through any fogged areas.
• On that note, the Forest is also waking back up, which means no more sleepy monsters in the woods. The monsters are awake and they want to kill you.
• Sesa & Elsword know the path to the cliff overlooking the ocean. You cannot go to the beach yet, but if you want to look at the ocean over a cliff, ask them to take you there.
• It continues to snow, but the temperatures are no longer sub-zero most nights, and instead it feels like a regular winter again.
• The river is now unfrozen, so Vash can get his pants wet as he walks back and forth to his house. Good luck buddy.
• Alongside that, the river is now full of fish and the temporary meat famine has ended. There are many fish that shouldn’t be in a freshwater river, such is the nature of the Grove. Reminder that the river can be populated with fish from player canons if you’d like. Please give us your weird fish.
• Wolfwood and Mizuki discovered Renard! He is a tree-man. He can be saved if the playerbase would like this to happen; this will tie into the greater plotline of players discovering how to cure the forest corruption.
• Speaking of the corruption conundrum, Mizuki ate the moon shard. The sun shard is still in Zahliya’s possession. The rest of the shards… unknown, good luck, have fun finding them!
• Animals will start to reappear in the Grove. They will be… mutated and feral. Biblically accurate deer and carnivore bunnies and the sort. This is probably fine.

PLOT UPDATES

• It is Large Game Month. For those that weren’t here with us for the Volcano Event that keeps being ominously referenced by us old people, “Large Games” are semi-regular events that last for a single in-game day where the goal is typically to survive whatever silly shenanigans the mod team stole from a movie or something for a day. You will see exactly what movie we robbed for this one shortly.
• Large Games make death very, very possible, but importantly they do not send you to the Garden, our death spot where you must give up something to return to life, and you will respawn the morning after you died terribly. This is your opportunity to kill and be killed without repercussion, have fun, go wild.
• The Grove-wide reward for surviving this game will be that each player character receives a single-use charm that can undo any negative outcomes going forward. It cannot be used to undo harm that was already done (i.e. Elsword’s corruption), but say one of y’all hecks up and gets an NPC killed — the charm could possibly undo that outcome. Do not godmod with these… we doubt we have to say this. Always ask another player for their OOC consent before you unbreak their bones for them.
• In addition to the Game, this month, small pocket mirrors will begin showing up around player characters, starting within their nightstands and almost seeming to follow them around by appearing on nearby surfaces (desks, walls, the floor, in the coffee machine, go wild). Looking into these mirrors will reveal your “worst” traits about yourself in a reflection that looks just like you. Anybody can look into your mirror and see your “worst self”. You can break the mirrors to stop them from following you and nothing will happen, until the Game takes place that is.

Anyway, here’s the Game:

• One night, everyone will go to sleep (and if you can’t or don’t sleep, you will simply close your eyes the moment before everyone gets transported) and when they next open their eyes, they’ll be laying on the floor of a giant ice castle. Yes, you will have your gear with you. Yes, coats can be included if you want. Or you can freeze to death, we’re not your parents.
• The castle will be able to be roamed freely. Unfortunately, the furniture is also made of ice, so there’s no where comfortable to sit down. You will also eventually be chased by a frozen legion of knights the entire time, all hell-bent on killing you. They cannot talk and they will not entertain conversation, they will simply try to stab you with lances/spears/other sharp objects. They can be killed, but more will eventually take their place. If they land a killing blow on you, you’ll immediately freeze solid and shatter into shards.
• Those of you who decided to break your mirrors will also find that you get colder, both physically and emotionally, as time goes on. Eventually, you’ll start to turn to a statue of ice. Don’t worry, though: The cure is true love, whatever that means. This can range from a genuine compliment to being kissed on the mouth to being given a hug from someone you really needed a hug from.
• If you survive until the morning, the castle will start to melt around you, and you’ll be transported back to your room/preferred area of sleeping. Those who died will wake up a bit afterwards, but they will feel an inner chill for about a week.

Status: Alive, miraculously enough, and perfectly well aside from the very recent trauma of his messy death. He's pretending to be fine, though. No clues or anything here!

For the event, he's going to simply hide the mirror and hope no one snoops- especially because it's going to show something else entirely. Hes's trying very hard to avoid dying at all for many reasons. He himself won't be entirely sure what to do once the knights strike.
Seeking: Friends! He's kind of holing up in his inn room because his first exposure to the Grove was that family meeting, which... yeah. (Hilariously, he likes Livio and Wolfwood already.)

Status: Newly revived after perhaps her worst death yet, and very traumatized about it and the cost of her resurrection. She's going to be mostly coping with that and by coping I mean she's avoiding everyone but a few select people and trying to self-destruct a little (move over vashington it's her turn now) and it's! Just not going to be pretty. Due to the nature of her death, her self-esteem and self-worth is shot to hell, and she's going to be struggling to control her magic more than usual. She's desperate for a hug but unwilling to let anyone close enough to do so right now out of fear.

Also her fear of dogs/wolves has like, quadrupled and now there are so many dogs in the grove please help.

She's going to break her mirror. Like. Immediately. No snooping Fel's worst self for you guys! Unfortunately this means she's going to freeze over though lmao.

Elsword.... he's not doing great!

Status: God how do I explain his lore in less than 5 minutes. Okay. Elsword/Elboy/Elbuddy as I call him bc his game is named for him, it makes it easier, is a former human-turned-angel because he pulled a Noctis FF15 and walked into the crystal that maintains life over the world (the El) to stabilize it and prevent Apocalypse #2 from occurring. This basically over-aspected his affinity to the El and gave him what's called the Illuminous Phenomenon, which is a fun word for "all my memories and emotions are gone". The Trader gave him a fragmented mirror that he sometimes collects shards from and gets some memories & emotions back, but none of his emotions are ever felt "fully" as consequence, which is why he... to quote someone else here i forget who, talks like an old man and also is very vacant at times.

There is all of that on top of the fact that the forest corrupted him way back in April when I first joined the game, so now he's got a black right arm that he sometimes can't control, and flowers all over that side of his body (arm/face region). Try not to appear in his obvious blind spot where the flowers are growing out of his head pls. Anyway, this causes him to suffer from hallucinations and nightmares, and lately has been very taxing on him. He has officially hit his depression arc and it's getting very hard to drag him back out of it. Only I could possibly have given the main character of this MMO depression y'all.

Anyway, Elsword News lately is that he's been more self-destructive and less willing to put up with things, so that's how you know he's not doing okay. I try to cw his uh, Issues he's having but if I forget something pls just poke me and be like Wolfie! you fool! And I'll fix it thanks.

Anyway Mizuki and Add are his boyfriends and I think that about covers this. Was this 5 minutes idk probably not I'm sorry.

Seeking: Can someone just hug him pls... like just let him be sad on you for a little bit (this question is not directed at Mizuki who is already doing this).

anyway the actual plot for this event: ELSWORD WILL BE ! FIGHTING THE ICE KNIGHTS! WOW! If his mirror shows the worst of him, he's gonna be like "yeah okay" and just let it do its thing, so no breaking it for him. He will however try to take hits meant for the rest of y'all and defend you and give you a hug if YOU need it, nevermind him, idk if he dies for a day he dies for a day with no repercussions and maybe it'll knock some goddamn sense into him.

Not Seeking: Neg CR for the purposes of neg CR, let's build that shit up. Still not seeking (official, non-large game) death for him either... mostly because at this point he wouldn't die, the forest has him he'd just become a boss fight. Don't make me do this.

Anything Else: There is one open space in Elsword's house if anyone who doesn't have a character already living there would like to claim a room. The current occupants are Elsword/Add/Mizuki/Nene. I would prefer to extend this offer out to major CR first... and people who are catty with Mizuki/Add after the last couple family meetings are automatically a "no", but just ask if you'd like to pop in.

Status: I'm not even going to attempt to explain Gnosis in less than 5 minutes. He's a Liberi (bird) from Terra, he will specifically let you know he is a crane if you ask, and he is a scientist... who does way too many science things, but mostly technology. He knows life sciences as well and recently he's gotten a book on botany to go with his interest in the forest ecology. Gnosis is normally very closed-off and clinical, but he's been here a while so he's been warming up to people. Unfortunately, most of the people he warmed up to greatly fucking disappeared and died and now he's regressed back into "I don't want to make friends, get your shit and get out" territory. I'm sorry he's making everyone work for his affections.

He had a broken leg all December and November, that will be fixed in January so he'll be able to play in the ice castle. His husband also showed up !!!!! so he will be doing a little better? Kind of? He listed out all of his war crimes for the Grove to see during Vash's uh. meltdown, we'll call it, and the worst part is that's only half of the details. Only Caoimhe and SilverAsh have the full details, Caoimhe because he told her bc she's his last remaining favourite person and SilverAsh bc they did all that shit together lmao.

I'm undecided on if he will or won't break the mirror, it will depend on what SilverAsh does. He's very aware of his ugly traits and will just be like "lol ok" at the mirror. He'll probably stay cooped up for quite a while otherwise.

Seeking: Let him science @ you... he had some interest in Vash's arm and other misc science things but I got too busy this month to do science things, so please allow science to happen. You cannot stop this, it is inevitable.

Status: He just arrived on the 27th and I stuck him into a snowbank... multiple times in fact. So far he has fought the Trigun cast in various ways, as expected, and Heimr put clothes on him and Mizuki and N are ? being really patient letting him be an asshole I guess ?????? closes my eyes.

Anyway in canon Nai is a Plant, Vash is his twin, and he has committed genocide. I had to nerf his ability to make millions of knives so that he wouldn't immediately break my setting so he's no longer Millions Knives but he's Fifties Knives now and those fifty knives are still causing goddamn issues. He has a knife snuggie which is this thing, I found the lowest quality image for this sorry, but this thing is made of ? his knives ?? don't. worry about this. We put real clothes on him so you'll see the knife snuggie less, but he has knife tentacles too... knentacles? his knoodles. Anyway, the Knoodles and his wolverine claws are about 97% of the problem now. And if I ever reference the knife snuggie you know what it looks like now yaaaay

His whole thing is that he Hates Humans A Lot and he's very much... Status: Ok here's the deal: When I was originally waffling over what bird to bring into the game it was between Passenger and Gnosis, who are my favourite birds (Passenger is a Passenger Pigeon, which are extinct! womp womp) and they are both scientists of some capacity with a dark history... you can see my type of man, anyway. Then Chi joined with Sesa and I sat there vibrating, bc Sesa is the only person Passenger has ever liked in his life other than his tutor when he was a child and like, Old Isin who was the other person who raised him. And I hummed to myself for a bit and went "I can't possibly play four characters in this game, that's insane, I also run it" anyway I think I'll play four characters in this game.

Anyway Passenger uh... okay. So he's mentally ill. He has Oripathy (Terran rock cancer, the thing on his forehead that looks like a Bindi is actually an Oripathy crystal, don't touch it) and it has severely affected him psychologically. He has mental conversations with the younger version of himself (when I write this in tags it's usually "little Elliot, young Elliot", stuff like that) and they can be very self-hating in nature, usually stuff like "Oh, you're doing such and such so that so and so hates you". I think looking at his lore more closely this specific thing he does was meant to be only for this skin but I've been treating it as a thing ever since it came out and I refuse to change, so Feel free to opt out of this if this is going to make you uncomfortable. Y'all thought Gnosis was a heavy character lmao.

Anyway as for his crimes, Passenger spent 20 years in Sargon working toward revenge against a Lord Ameer (basically a ruler of a city/district, Sargon is based on real life Arabic/Middle Eastern countries), which included starting his own black market, and manipulating a group of nomads and citygoers into starting entire-ass wars for him, and the culmination of this was he burned down the entire place to kill everyone within. He claims he gave civilians time to evacuate but wiggles wrist... anyway, revenge complete, now he works in Rhodes Island's engineering department. He makes machines/Arts Units that are capable of controlling entire lightning storms, and has little concern for people or even his own inventions. Unless you are Sesa. He is DETRIMENTALLY obsessed with Sesa. I'm sorry Chi.

Status: Sesa is doing alright actually! Since my Other Man was having just the most drama possible in December, Sesa has been kindof just vibing. His intro month was a lot more stressful and involved him being very cold 99% of the time so guess fucking what he is going to HATE THIS EVENT (I love it though smooches the mods). He's currently living at the lab still with Gnosis and now one (1) Silverash, but he has his own room now so the married men can snuggle. Maybe they'll put in a doggy door for him so he isn't staring at Gnosis through the window like :( I miss u

So Sesa...is going to have a ramp-up during this event, because the worst self his mirror is going to show him is going to be 1) terrifying for personal reasons and 2) something he will try to ignore but eventually won't be able to handle jumpscaring him around corners anymore and will eventually have to smash the mirror, but not in a "oops I dropped it" kind of way but in a "breaks and breaks and breaks until you can't see anything in the glass anymore PERIOD" kind of feral way. He's not going to be doing great. I'd love to thread this if somebody wants to come across Sesa having a bad time lmk, CW in advance the image in the mirror will involve descriptions of a burning corpse so if you'd prefer to avoid that I wanna give a heads up in advance!

Seeking: IDK EVERYTHING...I want to get Sesa around more in January, so. He will probably be fighting the knights, but very carefully...the whole castle is made of ice and he fights with literal explosives, he doesn't want to bring the place down on everyone. So, he'll be fighting by necessity but holding himself back for those reasons and ideally will want to be teamed up with somebody.

So I'm psure the whole Grove(tm) has been witness to his drama befuckery going on with Vash, they had a big falling out ON CHRISTMAS and he was just miserable and not having a good time for a couple days. Fortunately, they've since hashed things out and talked like big boys and he has a boyfriend now?? Like he hasn't used those words but, boyfriend. So things have been equal parts really terrible and also a lot better all at the same time, too bad that didn't last for more than a day now that Nai is here, whoopsie!!! Also Wolfwood has a husky puppy named Angelina, but for those who fear dogs she is very small still and lives in Vash's house alongside Wolfwood, so you won't have to worry about seeing her roaming around until she gets bigger.

I haven't decided yet if Wolfwood is going to break his mirror or not, though it's likely going to be a "yes" because I really want to play around with the true love's kiss saves u thing, bats my lashes at Vash for a kiss and other close CR for hugs PLEASE this man needs to be hugged, otherwise though I'm still pondering what I'll be doing and am very open to plotting things! He WILL be fighting the knights with the Punisher and isn't going to be careful about it like Sesa, so, sorry in advance.

Seeking: Wolfwood has actually gotten himself a nice spread of both positive and negative CR so I feel pretty spoiled in that regard, but otherwise Im always looking for everything pls grabby hands.

Not Seeking: Similarly with Sesa I would be down for a death if it comes to that, just not a perma one at this time. I also want to avoid him using his healing drug vials during this event, I may ask the mods if they can be frozen over or something cause that adds an extra layer of stress(tm) that I think would be very fun to play with

So, Enciodes JUST got here, but I actually have a toooooon of plans for him. He is liable to making an announcement either by way of the notebook, by just gathering who he can into the inn lobby to make that a public announcement, or both. His announcement is that he intends to install a government. I am not kidding, unfortunately—

FORTUNATELY, he isn't going to word it like that, and he does have genuinely good intentions about it!! He's a good boy, okay— ehem. Pulls out my list,

• He is going to establish a more apparent/reliable/organize collective of guards/knights/whatever you would like to call them for the Grove. He intends to just have a sign up sheet for this — no interviews or anything like that. It would literally just to be to establish things like a patrolling shift, first responders to Grove antics. He's going to also be getting stuff from Ydalir so these "guards" can have an alarm that goes off if shit's going down.
  
• With that in mind, he will also be making a census for the Grove's residents, and ask that you put your name and skills/talent in the notebook here in the future. This is both so that the Grove knows who to go to first for certain things (i.e. Doctor stuff for Add, or weapon stuff for Sesa, or etc. etc.), as well as being able to tell if someone is missing from the Grove.
  
• He wants a sheet for people to sign if they're going out into the Grove, intended location they're trying to explore, and who all is going, with the intent being a search party can go out and look for them if they're not back in a reasonable amount of time. This part, obviously, can be handwaved, but I thought it worth mentioning here!
  
• He wants to establish a sort of clean up crew so they can have people help when buildings pop up and are worse for wear. Having people handy w carpentry would be nice too so they can be fixed, but SilverAsh will volunteer for this himself if nothing else. He's going to start this with the School first, and be working with Mizuki (no I won't roleplay this out you cannot MAKE me commit the cardinal sin—) to cleaning up the burnt town at the end of this month/start of next month.
  
• He wants a transcriber for town halls so there's someone writing information down as it comes up in the netbook a la what Irene did last time.
  
• When he gets enough threads, I was considering him asking for a town hall of some kind, but I genuinely think he would consider the lobby to be good enough considering it's rarely used as a real lobby anyway so I think he's going to ask for an archive and just Make paperwork for him to do-

Seeking: Since he just got here, I would like for him to meet everyone and attempt to make friends. Enciodes is a bit serious, but not unkind! He's actually very personable and social, and he uses big words that makes me keep thesaurus.com open at all times—

Status: Alive (sources needed)! Sarcastic! Sassy! Brook hasn't been up to much because he very specifically does not want to be close to people. He's been hanging out with Zahliya and still hasn't talked to Ydalir or Heimr yet. Moder's cool. Wolfwood theoretically gave him a new mask (I still need to tag that—)

Status: So like. There was a breakup in December. And a makeup. And some makeouts. He also outed all of his crimes like ever. And then his brother showed up? It's been a really awkward few weeks.

Anyway Vash's deal, for anyone that missed it, is that he's a 150 year old "plant," meaning he's definitely not human. He "helped" his brother kill at least tens of thousands of people by crashing their fleet into a desert planet. He has a major guilt complex. He's also missing an arm because someone lobbed it off. Tech/medical freaks, come get your juice.

In theory he has a lot of fucked up, crazy powers involving making a gate and drawing out some horrible, destructive energy. However, he has no idea how to access that. Maybe it'll change now that his Beknifed Brother is here? We'll see

The mirror is going to show Vash looking like this. It's frightening, but he has no idea what it means. Out of curiosity, he keeps the mirror.
Seeking: A reason for him to die. I'm sorry. I'm a dramatic bitch. I need him to die. Not permanent like, just enough for the drama and sacrifice of it all. So you know.
