DECEMBER PLOTTING: MEMORY LANE

Before we begin, we'd like to start with some important OOC announcements!

• While we've worked on a bi-monthly TDM schedule since the beginning, this December we will be keeping the event closed to current players. What with the holidays and the focus on certain plot points, we feel this is for the best. Our next TDM will be in January, though applications are still open as always.
• December will also have all activity checks waived, we just ask that you check in to let us know you're still here! Bonus AC will process as normal. That said, November still has regular AC, so please submit your 2 threads of 5 comments as usual, unless you are a new player who gets a bonus check-in month.
• Speaking of, we've added to the bonus activity store! Check it out.
• Matters of the Heart is still open to questions and discussion, and Heimrquest is still on track for February. We welcome everyone for this, but NPC CR is required on some level. Utilizing the NPC Contact page is the best way to go about this.

SETTING UPDATES

• The mods are going to start sprinkling in the corpses of past life versions of players throughout the woods and in investigations! Please let us know if you would like to opt out of this, however.
• Moder's rescue has caused a blackberry bush to grow at the edge of the forest, just outside the fog wall on the opposite bank of the river (aka you will have to cross the river to reach it). She can usually be found eating berries from it. They seem to regrow far faster than your average blackberries would.
• Add built us a clinic, which is next to Gnosis' lab on the map; Toge built us a rec center to battle the nerds in open PVP combat because to quote Nat, "we can't let the nerds win". Both of these things will appear on the map when Wolfie's life is calm. Thank you.
• Snow continues to fall, and the temperatures will be below freezing most nights. The NPCs are not concerned about this and seem to be immune to the cold, however, Rusty is going to start letting himself into people's rooms to snuggle at night because he is literally just a dog. Be kind to Rusty.

PLOT UPDATES

• The Fears and the Shadows have been outlasted, at least, though not for a lack of trying on their part. With the month over and something stirring within the manor, they've retreated back into the forest... for now. But make no mistake: they will always be in your heart and in your head.
• The Forest is still furious, but winter is the time of rest even for unholy forests and its creatures, so one may enter the forest without assault once more. However, everything is hibernating and wild plant life is dead and the river has iced over- even the River Guardian must bend to the weather. While the general store can provide fresh produce, fresh meat is going to be much harder to come by. The only things unaffected are the gifts of the guardians, the apple tree and berry bushes on the riverbanks.
• There's a light on in the attic of the manor. But still its residents do not answer.
• Magic is once more leaking from it- but this time, instead of the guilt and regret that plagues the mind, residents of the Grove will find themselves feeling wistful and nostalgic for a time they no longer remember.
• Midway through the month, amongst the snowflakes, faint lights will also gently fall down to the earth. If untouched, they will sink through the snow and return to the earth. But should you touch one, it will take you and one other person into a brief flashback of your past lives, be it the both of you or just one.
  • For new players who have not had the chance to come up with a "past life" for your character, we have a Past-Life Plotting Meme, but you don't have to utilize it if you don't want to (we know it's old!). Take a look if you'd like and use this opportunity to come up with something for your character, it can be pretty much anything as long as it falls within the constraints of the settings.

Status: Alive, Super-Cold, Sesa (A.S.S.)
Seeking: Literally everything, tbh. Sesa JUST got here and is still figuring out what's going on, though he's been given the basic run-down of the premise from Gnosis. While he's usually one to be willing to suspend disbelief for things in a lot of cases, he's still struggling to comprehend what's happened here and if it's all actually. You know. Happening. But since Gnosis, Mizuki, and Irene are here, he's more inclined to be persuaded. That said...

My main focus for Sesa right now is exploration. He's a Man on a Mission(tm) back home and spends a lot of his physical and mental energy seeking answers to something that happened to his brother, but obviously in a completely new world he can't...easily do that, and sitting idle isn't something Sesa often does unless it's when he's playing videogames. I'm planning on having him go on investigations and stuff in upcoming posts as well as try poking around the town/visit with the NPCs/etc more, and obviously touching base with the other residents here (that's you!). If you'd like to go on some ill-advised exploration with Sesa please let me know he should not be trusted to do anything by himself-

Also he's probably like. Basically living at the lab right now unless Gnosis and/or Add make him stop sleeping there while he's working. For those who don't yet know, Sesa is a weaponsmith with expertise in tinkering with, repairing, and reverse engineering existing weapons to make them function beyond their normal limits. He used to do pretty illegal shit with the black market using this knowledge but like don't tell anyone.

I want to briefly drop info for Sesa's past life! I'm gonna just slip it here instead of in the old meme so it's more easily seen, check under the drop down if you're interested!

NAME: Sebastian Blackthorn

ROLE: Sebastian was a young child when the town was initially settled, around 6-7 years old. He was basically raised with the town itself, and as he got older would mainly focus his efforts on assisting with the construction of the town buildings as a carpenter.

HISTORY: Sebastian lived in the town with his father Nathan Blackthorn- also a Carpenter and one of the main architects who oversaw the construction of the town buildings- and his younger brother Matthias. Their mother, Anna Blackthorn, who was present with the family during the initial expedition, died due to illness. It was unclear whether she simply could not handle the journey, or something else caused her death...otherwise, it left Nathan a single father raising his two sons in the town as he focused his efforts on building a home for both them and the rest of the town's residents. Sebastian was an outgoing and energetic child, who looked up to his father and wanted desperately to follow in his footsteps. He had been born with a genetic deformity that left him missing his left leg (his father, being the skilled carpenter that he is, builds his son a wooden prosthetic that he regularly replaces as he grows out of the old ones), yet despite this he knew that he too wanted to grow up to be an architect and carpenter like his father.

During his teenage years, however, a lot of his ambitions were shelved in the pursuit of looking after his younger brother Matthias, who was much more reserved and shy than Sebastian and struggled socially, often fearing leaving their home. On days when Sebastian couldn't leave the house while watching his brother, he would practice woodwork by building toys for the other kids in town. He learned how to make little wooden gliders that could fly short distances when thrown, and one day he accidentally threw one out the window that managed to fly into the window of a neighboring house. A few moments later, the glider came sailing back, having been thrown by a young boy living in that house whose room Sebastian accidentally threw the toy into. This would blossom into a friendship as Sebastian would tie notes to the glider and throw them into the boy's window with the two of them communicating in this way. Sebastian never saw the boy with the long red hair ever leave his home, yet he would always be there when he was home watching Matthias, allowing them to talk to pass the time.

At 15, Sebastian would begin his official apprenticeship under his father, working to help in construction both in the planning and physical building stages.

DEATH:

Unlike a lot of others here, Sebastian's death was not heroic. On the contrary, when all hell breaks loose, Sebastian simply...disappears. To the townsfolk, it would be easy to assume Sebastian fled due to cowardice, which is only half the truth. He would leave his home in search of the boy he'd befriended, in the hopes he could bring him back to his family for protection. Sebastian would then be driven into the woods by monsters before he could make it there, ultimately too terrified to leave his hiding place. He would die alone from exposure at 17 before being devoured by beasts. His family would meet a similar fate in being killed by monsters in their home.

Status: i was on hiatus for october through early november and then never got back on the wagon because life was hell. things have calmed down tho! but this is to say gara's been like ... on autopilot/keeping to himself. super lowkey ig
Seeking: basically anything! gara lends himself well to tense and negative CR because of how brusque and crass he is, but i'd also like for friends too. i'd especially like past life lights stuff! i have to plot out a past life for him, but i plan on doing that next, so ... ! also also i want him to perform. he's a musician/singer and literally needs to do so as an outlet!
