PLOT ANNOUNCEMENT: MATTERS OF THE HEART
Hello, friends and unwitting denizens of the woods!
The mod team would like to make an early announcement for an upcoming plot line, separate from your usual plotting posts so that it's not buried (also because it's still early). You can consider this an interest check for this plot line ahead of time so we know what to write in the coming months. Since Sticks & Bones is primarily player-driven, we don't want to foist a plot line upon people who aren't interested.
We were intending on keeping this a surprise, but we also want more people to be able to get involved in different plot lines- and to give opportunity for a variety of involvement, as well, since not everyone is built for action or as keen on investigation.
As you all know, our Shopkeeper and Trader are shadow people who were formally human until they gave up their names- and with it, their humanity- to the forest for various reasons. Part of this is linked to their identity, such as how you cannot directly call either of them by their former names without interference somehow. Part of their plot line involves, through embracing their new names and identities and letting go of the old, regaining new bodies and with it, new leases on life. They both just need a little help for it.
Where do you come in? Simply building CR with both of them, and with that CR, trust. The Shopkeeper, at least, will be ready for a soul-searching mission with several people by February - the Trader, it’s harder to say since her hangups are very different. At this time I cannot say how many slots will be available for the Shopkeeper, but we wanted to give everyone a heads up so they can decide if they want to be part of the emotional journey or not, and contribute on any level, be it the buildup or the mission itself for either of the merchants.

I would like to potentially get Sesa involved in helping with this because he likes to Help People, and as mentioned the best way to get CR with both the Shopkeeper and Trader is through the NPC post. My curiosity is, is that the only way we should/could be contacting them, or will there be more opportunities in upcoming events? It's okay if not ofc, I'm just curious so I'll know how to think about where to toss Sesa in the future!

The best way to contact the NPCs will be through our NPC Contact Post. We used to have an NPC Contact section on all of our events, but moved it to that page because it was difficult for us to keep track of the lore-important things that were happening with NPCs when they were spread between various event logs. So, go there to poke and prod!
