SETTING UPDATES

• The burnt town is still there! Congratulations on your first map upgrade. The sinkholes and black thorny vines are also there. Alas, Mr. Bone-Jangles has taken his maskerade elsewhere though. Maybe he’ll return again someday.
• BB has built us a school... way at the beginning of October. Wolfie failed to make the map update in time but it is there, trust her.
• Gnosis has also built a lab, but at the end of the month. Two new buildings for people to play in. Except it’s Gnosis so probably don’t play in there, play in BB’s school instead, it’s friendlier to that.
• Moder has been reborn, and in turn purified of the corruption. She’s hanging around, usually wandering the Grove and saying hello and minding her own business unless approached. It’s fine probably. She will be contactable on the NPC contact page, which has not been updated yet, but she’s contactable just trust us bro.
• Nene is also back! She is in Add's custody, so she mostly stays at Elsword's house.
• As the seasons start to shift, it’s beginning to snow more often. At first the ground simply remains frosted in the mornings before melting into the chilly afternoon, but by the end of the month there’s going to be some decent amount of snow on the ground. Sometimes the snow tastes and smells like ash.

PLOT UPDATES

• At the start of the month, Ydalir will hand out enchanted notebooks. These notebooks will function as our network officially, with more information below. She and Heimr will also be making hot chocolate for people who stop by.
• Well, you guys pissed off the Forest irrevocably, not even Caoimhe’s misplaced worship will appease it. Aside from the areas cleared of the fog- so, the main Grove, the burnt neighborhood and the river- if the barrier drops enough that you can enter the black fog, you will be attacked with the intent to maim and kill. That said, the barrier is still mostly in place, and the Golden Glasses from the Bonus AC shop are required to find the gaps where it isn't.
• Meanwhile, invisible pranksters have infested the grove! No matter how careful you are, characters will be targeted, be it having something stolen from your room and placed in another, to pulling your hair while someone else is close enough by to frame them. They’ll also go out of their way to interrupt sleep as much as possible, and will do anything to raise tensions. It’s probably fine.
• … Or at least, it is compared to what else is happening. Throughout the month, you may find yourself being watched. Followed. And eventually, you’ll see why: characters this month are being stalked by monsters that are a representation of their greatest fears combined. The only requirement is that it cannot be a person. For example, Felicity’s fear cannot take form of her “Grandfather” and the witch who tried to cannibalize her, but it can represent dogs, food scarcity, hospitals and electrical torture. Throughout the month these Fears will stalk their designated person with the intent of psychological torture and, should opportunity arise, to attack. These things will be clever, however, and won’t rise to the bait if you try to attack them first. As the month progresses, they will grow more bold with the intent to kill and devour their target. Among other things, these guys are not nice and want you to suffer.
• More precise examples of the Fears: Felicity's would be a gnarled, very feral lighting dog covered in chains meant to restrain it's target, while for Elsword it could be a henir-corrupted, multifaced grim-reaper like figure with a sword coated in blood, with the names of the ones he's personally failed engraved on the blade. Fears are meant to be an amalgamation of different things, both conceptual and literal, so you can definitely have fun with it.
• Also the pranksters are not fine actually, because the more aggressive the Fears get, the more aggressive they get as well: eventually they’ll manifest as their true form, tiny shadows who will gleefully make their pranks more and more extreme. Fatally so. Like a tumble down the stairs, or knives going flying. Good luck!
• In short: Everything wants to kill you and they’re being slow about it to fuck with you.

THE NETBOOKS

• “Usernames” will just be the character’s name (as chosen — so Add and Brook, for example, can still be Add and Brook), and the writing will display as their own handwriting across every book. If purposely written in another language, the writing will auto-translate to something every character can understand, meaning there will be no secret otherworldly language conversations between any characters.
• You can consider it to be like a mass forum, with individual comm posts being new posts on the forum!
• Considering that mechanic, that means there are no private messages. There will never be private messages. If you want private messages send a letter like ye olden days, or just talk like a person, we’re not your parents.
• “Network” posts will simply be made on the main IC comm and should be labelled & formatted appropriately as such.
• New characters who app in after this point will automatically receive a netbook.

OOC UPDATES

• The FAQ & Locations pages will be updated to reflect a few things: the netbooks, the river’s width and overall depth, Moder’s… erm… presence here, the school (please yell at Wolfie), & maximum vertical travel/flight height (we originally wrote 20ft… and then we started parking Zahliya on top of the inn past the max height, so it will now be 30ft, oops) (your mods are very good at math).
• We will additionally have a large “overall” map sketched out in the coming weeks since players have been asking for it. We have not forgotten, we are just busy little guys.
• Please thank Rubie for her second wonderful contribution of a player plot, the mischievous shadows!
• The bonus AC page will be updated with some additional goodies. We are very aware that you guys are running out of stuff to buy. We will still take suggestions if anyone has anything, so please feel free to drop those in the mod inbox and/or the game discord (just ping the mod role!)

I wanna poke at the boundaries of the "no people" limitation on the pursuers! What about:

1. Monsters that clearly used to be people, but stopped being people?

Mimicry is totally acceptable and perhaps even encouraged for the noble goal of fucking with your blorbo even further (psychological horror) (making them worse) (hurt and pain). However, I'm going to say that they can only mimic things and people you fear, and otherwise may have limited speech depending on the form they take- in the examples above, Felicity's dog wouldn't be able to speak normally on account of feral dog, but Elsword's potentially could. Does that make sense?

Status: Gnosis was like, fine last month, despite the pain share and everything. He's pretty good at shutting that stuff out. And then the fammeet happened and he and Lancer fought and it turns out Gnosis does have PTSD who woulda thought! Anyway so he got pretty mopey, also he got Tenzin back who is Enciodes' hawk bc until I get castmates I will simply steal their stuff I guess. Then he built a lab, which he fully intends to live in now and someone MIGHT have to check on him and make sure he doesn't die in there, and AMITY PUT SOME OF ENCIODES' STUFF IN THERE, SO NOW HE'S DOUBLE-SAD. BIRD IS SAD. no one talk to him he's having a horrible last week of October. I think he's depressed*

Anyway the lab will have the doors unlocked so fellow scientists can poke in there but it is His Space also so pls respects that. And leave the side bedroom alone he's legitimately moving in there I'm so serious abt this. This man is a mess.

Anyway Gnosis now lives in a dangerous location for those prankster entities now and he's probably? Going to wind up in a fight with one of the murder-entities. Tenzin will help. There will be blood (do they bleed??? i don't know).

Re: Last month, he sure did painshare with every possible person who allowed me to do this to him, which meant mostly he spent his time in the river trying not to freak out because it turns out, when you are just a human-turned-angel who lost all of his memories and emotions and are simply a husk, it is very difficult to suddenly feel everything everyone else is feeling at 10x the strength you get to feel things at. I did this to him on purpose. He did not have a good time, I am sated for now, my bloodlust has ended until next month.

Anyway, as for fears and stuff, this is a little difficult bc there's not much Elsword really fears. I'll think of some metaphorical cool way to say "the preventable deaths of everyone he loves". I have played Silent Hill so I should be good at this, but I'm actually not. Surprise!

He's so numb to everything that the Little Guys are going to be tolerated (somewhat) until they attack and then he's probably going to try to cut them in half. Normal shit.

Also someone make snow angels w/him??? He might start a snowball fight??? we should do that.

Mizuki has had a ROUGH month, honestly. "So that means you're going to give him a break, right?" :)

Anyway, he's currently dealing with ~*feelings*~ he doesn't want, and he's having a hard time trying to figure himself out. He's supposed to be better at this sort of thing!! He's probably going to end up taking interest in new people and talking with them so he can ignore that for however long that'll last—

So, uh, yeah! Pain share was a mess, but not necessarily for him. More so for other people, since Mizuki's emotions are a bus, and he also got hurt a lot this month. He's happy he was able to help get Nene back, he's glad Moder is here, but boy howdy was the ForestQuest such a nightmare for him. If you're going to find Mizuki this month, he is likely going to be hanging out with Moder, within the therapy building, or attempting to help redecorate the Inn with stickers.

Event Status

I'm still somewhat juggling around the idea of what I want his fear to be? Mizuki has a couple of fears, but these past three months have harped on his fear of fire so much I think he's become just a little numb to it? Not so much so he doesn't still fear it, but rather just sort of dissociates whenever it's a thing now. So I don't really want to play with that fear too much? I'm thinking about maybe having it be

1.) a manifestation of Mizuki's "main" god but this one's a little hard because it's literally the size of a leviathan and I don't know how well that would swing for this event. I've thought about scaling it down, but that sort of defeats the purpose of it's majesty? idk.

or 2.) A really fucked up version of himself to simulate "becoming evil". Because I think of his fears, becoming corrupt and turning into the worst version of himself and just trying to hurt other people instead of just trying to make them happy would really fuck with him. It wouldn't look exactly like him to others, but rather a very big moon jellyfish with ooze dripping from under it's bell and tentacles moving in a very glitchy way that makes them hard to see coming. Bonus points if I'm allowed to let this fear attack his friends, too—

Don't know yet. Trying to workshop this a little. I want it to be a little more thought provoking, though, and maybe also throw in a little more of his religious trauma in there?????? I'll decide when the event itself actually drops.

Character: Toge Inumaki

Status: Shaken, but healthy.

Toge's foray into the woods didn't leave lasting damage, even though he suffered for the hours he was in there and never said a peep about it. Those who painshared with him know though. He's familiar with pain, intimately so, his throat is a constant source of it.

After the family meeting, he believes he's not being taken very seriously, or that between the missing arm and his inability to speak much he's being completely overlooked. The idea that people are concerned about him is somewhat foreign to him. It's not his first thought.

His reaction to this is nothing. He's not very good at advocating for himself and he backs down. He's disappointed and upset but he'll swallow those feelings down. He's an expert in that department. He's very much thinking 'just tell me what you want me to do then'.

Seeking: Any and all CR really. He and Lancelot are planning on exploring the fog in another direction from where he came so that's gonna be fun.

He'd probably benefit from some more interpersonal conversations. Despite Fel's criticism about his penchant for throwing himself to the wolves to protect others, he's probably not going to stop seeing everyone around him as someone to be protected. It is literally the only thing he thinks he can do.

Not Seeking: Nah, you know, pretty much everything is fine.

Anything Else: He's not the type who's going to take murder attempts lying down, those little shadows better not cross his path. He's not afraid to retaliate. (Which can only make the situation better)

Note: Idk why but i feel like I want to just put this here, MUN =/= CHARACTER. Sometimes my characters know less than I do, and I will roleplay them that way. Sometimes my characters will lie, withhold information, try to manipulate you etc (BB), this does not reflect me at all. I write villain characters for story purposes, and to be treated accordingly. With everyone emotionally distraught due to any number of reasons you want to list in getting stuck in stixs. Lancelot is annoyed by everyone's display of what he thinks is pathetic, and wants to work on moving forward and "getting shit done." He plans to explore much of the forest with Toge, and or anyone interested in moving out. He does not need to sleep but has no plans on exploring in the evening hours - he will explore the morning - into the late afternoon. Then they come back - maybe they die who knows.

he is chilling, it is hard for things to affect him but at the same time this is because he is easily affectable - has trained himself to retain his feelings and keep things under check. This is because if he is unable to, he will just snap and turn into a dragon - and that would be bad! Bc dragon!him is just instinctive and acts out usually on the last order given or just straight-up destroys everything around it.

anyway he has his own gameplan, which is something something getting everyone back home something something killing stuff. tldr he does not like the idea of 'settling' down in any way in this weird place. he says a big no thank you!!!

He is going to see a lot of decrepit Knights - men he killed that look monstrous and fucked up because you know he did a number to their bodies. Women with many arms/hands since his more particular feeling is not wanting to be touched by them so they will try hard to grab him. Maybe his own dragon self - who knows. HELL MAYBE HIMSELF with a dragon HEAD - fucked up time brother. Maybe some like Holy Grails too all disgusting and mucked up... There is also just in general the concept of being used - which he is used to... also being caged/jailed a lot. there's a lot that just brings up trauma/ptsd for him. He also hates churches so... lmao. Idk I'll be creative.

Regarding his past, which has CW: of noncon/r*pe. He won't ever bring it up, and actively will avoid it however if you are interested in a scenario where your character learns about what happened to him. Then we can discuss how it can happen, let me know.

idk lancelot is a servant if you don't know what FATE is, think of a historical figure from the past that you summon and bind to yourself. except they are super powerful like how they were in legend - like Dragon Ball or Bleach level of strength. He has a lot of trauma but tries hard to just... SERVE others but he's grumpy as fuck, and can come off extremely mean/rude bc he sucks at words.

I write him that he came from a Chaldea (FGO Timeline) where Ritsuka died (this is canon in the game too lol there are many Ritsuka timelines and they all died), and he saw her as he saw Guinevere. So he uses his noble phantasm to make himself summonable in every other timeline of hers. Which is how he ends up in FGO!Chaldea... Except there's already a Lancelot there, and King Arthur is a Girl for some reason. He is also confused there is also like 10 of them - he gets a headache thinking about it.

BB (Moon Cancer) | Fate Grand Order

Status: Here to be a bitch and cause problems on purpose and sometimes on accident
❖ Currently due to having the core data of her existence missing from her 'brain.' BB is fucked up internally and is currently put on rest mode as a servant so that she can organize her Spirit Origin accordingly. It will take her some time since she had come back to do this - idk how long idk I'll make it up. She probably will make Mizuki her Master - forcibly. Just so it can speed up the process. A lot of the moon is missing, so her Noble Phantasm is a bit fucked up as well. I am having fun thinking on it, and what this all means - so its just one of those things that I am chugging along as the roleplay goes.
'Why are you making a big deal of it?' bc it is a big deal a servant cant function without the core parts of their existence put together - it is canon if you mess with a servants spirit origin you mess everything up. BB canonly has a whole fleet of people in Chaldea that takes care of her data and keeps track of it - so like I would be doing a disservice to her, the series, and etc if I didn't act accordingly lol.
❖ Woman on a mission she is going to do stuff for herself to make herself right... And then eventually open up a 'getaway vacation' for everyone by letting you all enter her Noble Phantasm for the price of some technology from your world. Look forward to that! Usually, you do not want to go in her Noble Phantasm ever bc she has complete control - but BB is also someone who lives up to rules and standards and if she gets something out of it she does give in return - but shes got that devil side to her!
❖ Is the reason why the fog is black, don't worry about it though. She won't ever tell anyone, maybe she will if she's bored maybe she won't. If you ever find out feel free to confront her about it!

Rather, she is coming from her DND timeline where no one came to save her and she inevitably dies trying to hold back her Primordial merged with God uncle from destroying Faerun/Toril & everywhere else. I have not decided if she will be taken towards the end, where she is like Elsword. Has shittier memory then him, and constantly sings - or roughly in the middle where shes much more coherent but a lot more... Otherworldy and not so innocent anymore, but still as kind as ever.
❖ Fears esp with her canon update 3 headed uncle of doomsday! Caoimhe is kind of scared of a lot of things that are... not physical? so it will be interesting for me to try to like create it - she is scared of the moon now as well due to the truth of it form her world (its the door way to basically the shadowfell).

Status: Add just went through a whole character arc, got a boyfriend, rescued his sister and contributed to a possible cure for Forest corruption, so he is feeling Fantastic right now.

I'm putting Add on the backburner this month to focus more on building up Haru's CR, but he's got a couple projects he's working on now:

- Building Nene new legs, which is the easy part, actually. The hard part is getting the materials from Ydalir, which is gonna require helping two people with a non-medical task. Is he still going to try and cheat somehow? Can he help with science things?? looks at Gnosis tbh but yeah if anyone wants an excuse to do a Thing with Add this is a free opportunity just ask him for a dumb favour that doesn't involve a medical problem.

- Putting an "experimental implant" in Mizuki's brain, and also Elsword's brain, which totally isn't a secret mind control chip. He's not telling anyone about this one. It's a secret. Don't worry about it.

- Setting himself up in the new clinic I got approved right after this post went up so this is the EXCLUSIVE reveal wowow!! the nerds are winning this month.

yeah so Haru is actually not a normal human child shocking i know, he is so good at this!!! anyway this is not actually that big of a secret to him, it's just more convenient/simple to make people think he's a human... but it's no fun if he keeps it hidden forever! So I'm gonna start that slow process of making him trust people and/or have him act feral enough for people to connect the two dots.

NOTABLY, his illusion isn't impossible to detect, so please let me know if your character has any illusion-breaking abilities/the Golden Glasses and they will probably just see him for what he really is, a 5'8" tall genderfluid furry impersonating a child.

Seeking: anyone willing to tolerate/talk to him... Haru is extremely antisocial and a terrible conversationalist, but he's not an asshole. He'll be helpful when it feels appropriate and speaks when spoken to, he's just very curt in his responses and prone to staring blankly in awkward silence with 0 self awareness. Be patient w\ him and he'll open up with time.

if you want CR easy mode tho... either ask about his sister or be an obvious nonhuman. The weirder you look the more he'll think you're normal, actually.

Anything Else: Not totally sure on Haru's monster yet but something something afraid of bad stuff happening to Miyuki, enemies that are too strong to defeat, maybe some existential dread in there somehow... this is a spoiler but might resemble this boss idk im workshopping it still
