OOC PLOTTING: FLESH MINECRAFT JANUARY

SETTING & PLOT UPDATES:

“Hey mods, why is this section combined this month?” Haha. You are not speaking to mods you are speaking to Wolfie. Amity did not have a hand in these war crimes.
This event’s trigger warnings will be numerous, so before we continue, the following triggers apply to the plotting post and more importantly the log itself: cosmic horror, body horror, disease/illness horror, insect-related horror, gore, and lighter eye horror and god I hope that’s all that I had to list (I did not write them all down in my initial notes).
- Your opt out for this event per usual is in the Inn, which will be safe from all of the horrors outside. I cannot stress enough that I’m trying to make this event rough on purpose, so if you want to disengage there is the inn and backdating threads back to whatever you want before this happens. This is going to be the most hard-horror event we’ve ever done, take care of yourselves etc.
- This is also a TDM; in lieu of a “wake up” prompt, it will instead have a regular title so it’s more obvious that this affects the entire setting and not just TDMers.
Speaking of affecting the entire setting: to up the stakes, powers will be nerfed for the duration of this event. This has nothing to do with physical powers (if you can lift a car, you can still lift that car) and everything to do with more superhuman/magical ones (no Fireball spells, no healing). This is also to even the playing field between characters who are obnoxiously powerful and could more easily survive, and those who are just Guys, i.e. the difference between Ras and Ryan.
- Magic items that give a combat edge will also be nerfed; items such as the Spirit Lantern or the cloak that makes you invisible in the dark will Not be nerfed. If you’re unsure, ask a mod. AKA Wolfie. Ask a Wolfie.
- Non-magic items with charges (such as Wolfwood’s Punisher) will be unaffected.
- The Guardians & Heimr/Ydalir will be nerfed as well, to a point that doesn’t make the setting inoperable entirely (BAC still works); Suri/Zonari are nerfed to a point, as are Beiwe/Ourania and any lingering Spirits/Stars that might also be out there. Again, the setting is still operable, but only to a point. The Goddesses will be uncontactable due to their nerfing, just like in Y1 of the game. Ourania is quite busy dealing with the wounded moons (elaboration below).
Per the end of December’s event: You are plopped back down into the Grove after spending the month with the Goddesses, the ever-changing moons have an open wound on each of them, and there is a new celestial object in the sky - the Iris, which normally looks like a reddish moon but sometimes does. That thing where it looks like an eye. The Iris is the source of your grief for Jan-Feb, and has nothing to do with Suri who is still sleeping because Winter. Despite the snows continuing to fall, though, the forest itself may feel more active than usual with the fog wall still gone…
The Iris brings with it (in a beam of light cast through the wounded moon) new Horrors and Creatures and Threats! It also uses the moon as a gateway thus the wound. Here are the New Threats:
- Woodcrawlers: These are large insectoid creatures. You will never be able to see their full appearance as the sight of them distorts your vision, but you can make out that they have a single glowing eye (or perhaps head) and insectoid legs, and a proboscis. They are here to hunt you and become you. They will do so by entering your throat via proboscis. :) If they manage to pierce your skin but do not. Enter you. They will give you Deep Root Disease (elaboration below). They will try to invade your homes/businesses (breaking windows, burrowing under the ground and into the foundation, through the roof, etc) — the inn, being plot-irrelevant sacred ground, is completely immune to them, though they will try to crawl on the building. If you’re cold, they’re cold, let them in (they can’t come in) (to the inn).
  - Woodcrawlers that take over animals in the forest will be active and aggressive. Think like rabies but it gives them extra branching limbs.
- Fake People: This is the end result of being taken over by a Woodcrawler. You will die from this. Your body will be taken over. The Fake People will wander around outside, sometimes hovering or A-posing and jerking their heads and limbs about, often shouting phrases to get others to come outside so they can be attacked. There will be additional NPC Fake People outside during the duration of the event :) congrats the Grove is less empty! They know your names. :)
- Nature’s Mockery: These are amalgamations of flesh, unmoving and shaped like a small spire, out in the forest and Grove. Sometimes they have faces or human limbs embedded in them. If you touch the Nature’s Mockery, you get Deep Root Disease! Causes hallucinations, sudden muscular paralysis, body disfigurement, and flesh decay.
- Deep Root Disease: This is comparable to a more virulent Corruption; whereas our Corruption mechanic has always been a slow burn, DRD will just straight up ruin your life in a matter of hours. Luckily, it’s easy to spot, starting as a growth/bump on the skin that looks reddish and hollow for the first few hours — the solution during this stage is to forcibly rip it out. If someone fails to rip it out within about 3 hours, the root inside the person will fuse with their skeleton, and then the prognosis becomes “better mercy kill them before they get worse”.
  - The end result of DRD is. And there is an image of this out there but I will not link it because it will frighten several of you… but do you know how the central nervous system looks? It’s that, but made up of red roots.
  - You do not die from DRD. You are still alive, you are simply rooted to the spot. Your eyes can still move. You can still think, though your memories might be missing. You cannot speak or move otherwise. You can only hope your peers will set you on fire.
Note that it is safer to go outside during the daylight (but not ENTIRELY safe) than the nighttime, as Woodcrawlers are largely active at night. Fake People and the rest of this are active always. The Iris is always watching.
Death does not yield a garden trip, BUT: people who die to Fake People and Woodcrawlers will find that they have "lost their voice" temporarily, for about 72 hours. People who die to/are killed because they contracted DRD will temporarily find it more difficult to move (incredibly stiff limbs etc) for 72 hours. Resurrection time is also 72 hours.
Anyway, the goal of this event is to live. Luckily things can be killed, so get creative. Chop em, boil em, put em in a stew (???) Set them on fire, poison them, shoot them, whatever you want to do. This is your apocalypse except I made it very difficult.

You may watch this if you want, it’s free on YouTube (do not watch Nexpo's coverage of it that man is a vulture and an AI bro). I will warn you that this is one of those “keep the lights on” series, I am unflappable normally but some of the shit in there man…

Re: the poll I put up last month-ish about volunteering to die, that will be for February. :) Don’t worry :) It will NOT involve Woodcrawlers I PROMISE it’ll involve something else and none of it has anything to do with Woodcrawlers UNLESS YOU WANT IT TO I GUESS.

PC-owned pets are not affected because I don't want to play that angle. The Woodcrawlers will not enter the barn unless you try to hide out there, in which case they are entering the barn for You Specifically.

Shapeshifting/transformation would be considered a supernatural power and nerfed! The character will be stuck in the form they took right before the Iris laser beamed creatures into this dimension, i.e. if Kiera is a housecat they will be a housecat for the next (checks notes) couple months—

If someone has the funky mind communication bracelet on and gets rooted, they can communicate mentally through their bond (though their psychological state might be fucking awful, especially as memories start to deteriorate!) and through their bones :) Do not ask me how the bone communication makes sense I just think it's funny to say that.

QUICK CLARIFICATION FOR HAYATO because he is not supernatural he is a cyborg. He still falls under nerfing right?

That depends on what kind of "powers" he would get! So sorry I'm seeing this so late.

If any of his powers wouldn't be based in a natural ability that could be trained (i.e. bench pressing a car which I guess you could train) he would be nerfed yes!

THE USUAL SPIEL

Character: Ain
Canon: Elsword
CR: Ain is an angel and was previously trying to hide it... He's no longer trying to hide it like he does in canon because there's No Point to doing that. Anyway, largely his goal back home was to stop the world from ending (done) and defeat the evil cult that wants to re-end the world (in progress), and also he's made of God Rock Substance (the El) which in this game's terms basically means he's made of nuclear energy I guess. I don't know how to explain Elsword to people anymore, I've been here 15 years—

Ain is a healer, he's sweet but can be passive-aggressive and generally loves to fuck with people, he has a difficult time grasping emotions often, he has an anxiety disorder, and his definition of friendship is incredibly nebulous. Some of you have already gotten this but Ain very rarely registers negative CR, you can yell at him all you want but he'll sit there like :D we're friends! because his canon group of idiots are always arguing about something and this is just friendship to him. He... has only been around humans for 5 years he doesn't get it, okay.

for Stix: Ain runs the tailor shop and lives in the bunny bakery with Ezell. He likes gardening but he doesn't help maintain any greenhouses, he's just having fun. Despite being a healer he doesn't work in the clinic much anymore, he's largely focused on other things. You can come to him for healing still but he won't really be in there much.

Ezell and Wolfwood are his fiancés, Elsword is his boyfriend. Anyone else has dropped or died so oops.

Although Ain hasn't said anything to anyone, some people he's threaded with are already aware of it: his brain is currently borked due to the dream event, and Zahran in the library fixed the lingering nightmares to make them more dreamlike. This has the consequence that he's hallucinating all his fwiens from canon now to cope with solitude, so he might be spotted talking to them out loud sometimes. I don't think I'll harp on this tooooooo much for people outside of Ain's major CR but it's a thing for the foreseeable future.

Plans: I was so niceys to Ain for so long :) no more

He's not getting the chair as hard as some people but I do plan on him being attacked by a Woodcrawler when he's in his tailor shop. Ain is defenseless without his magic (all his swords/spears/etc are summoned, so he's SOL there too), please lmk if you want to come rescue him. I don't necessarily plan on infecting him with anything.

I do plan on letting him fall for some Fake People yelling though probably.

He will largely be on the defensive though and helping people, please shout if you need a root extracted :') this is the most he can do for you. He's going to feel so yucky and gross without his magic.

CR: very few things i can say about this man aren't spoilers so we're going to start with the not spoilers and then move into the spoilers they will look like this <--- this is text you should highlight if you want to see what's under it

Non-spoiler quick notes:

- The cast in Z-A skews older than prior entries, and because of (honking spoiler reasons) I'm playing him as 19 given no canon age is stated otherwise. Look I know Pokemon is not a realistic series but there are some disbeliefs that cannot be suspended for certain things in this entry, crying
- He is implied to have grown up partly in Galar. I like to imagine he has the worst accent possible (british/french mix).
- Right now his team consists of one (1) Meganium. I'll probably regain his Meowstic and ??? Feraligatr??? Goodra??? undecided on the third powered Pokemon rn. There is a fourth contender to the 3rd slot but that goes in the spoiler section (iykyk). Most of his team can't fit in a building so lmao.
- He likes photography/film (both looking at and making) and cooking. Despite being quirky with his cooking it's stated to be Very Good Food, he will cook for u. He will also probably film skits with you even though tiktok doesn't work here—
- He is completely financially illiterate, which like thank god we don't have a real economy here or he'd be in trouble. I'm sure I'll find a way to make him in trouble with shells and bones though.
- He wants to be the most helpful person in the room at any one time and has a hard time letting go of responsibility, which will do well in a dwrp game where literally every other character is the exact same in this respect closes my eyes.
- The boy has no combat ability but is very physically fit since Lumiose is full of parkour these days and dodging the shit in the wild zones, so like. Don't expect him to fight anything ever, but do expect him to dodge very well and probably be on your roof.
- Right now his canonpoint is at the end of the base game, not the DLC. I'll probably canon update to the DLC sooner rather than later after the 30 day embargo is up just to get it all done with even though the effects won't be too large.

Local man has experienced the horrors, more at 10... like he already has PTSD surely we can make this worse right

- So his mom died when he was young; there's no stated age as to when she died but this is a pretty regular trauma point for him. Timeline wise I usually put her death at when he was like, 10-12ish somewhere in there. Anyway, the jacket he has is his mom's, and he very rarely takes it off.
- He has nearly starved to death several times :') dwbi
- One time he took out a loan from the mob (not a good idea!!!) re: financial illiteracy. Don't worry no one has ever let him live this down.
- He has been part of the Horrors™ previously. This is where we get into vague headcanon territory but I'm just saying: if Prism Tower explodes while he's at the top of it, in it, with a bunch of living weapon plant tentacles flailing about... there's no way he came out of that unscarred closes my eyes. I know this is Pokemon but I also know he realistically probably left this situation with a concussion and several broken ribs at minimum. Anyway, iykyk this entire event was very fucked up so I (gestures at him) will be playing him with an amount of physical scarring that one would get from being inside a collapsing tower when it explodes after it briefly gained sentience. Don't worry about this either.
- In a more ideal world I'd happily claim he was body horror'd like people's AUs on twitter where he sort of fused with Ange and had a flower growing out of his skull but :') Since this is a new/popular canon I hesitate to stick to a big headcanon like this. Guess I'll be taking his eye another way oh nooooo

Plans: He was having such a nice holiday taking photos with his lil polaroid camera... learning things... talking to people.......... anyway

The horrors they are outside. He will largely be sticking to the inn mostly because uhhhhh nope not touching that with a ten foot pole. Character: Vildred Dayern
Canon: Epic Seven
CR: Vildred is "just a guy". He's not a creature (okay he has dragon blessings of tail/horns but like he's not a creature), he doesn't have magical powers*, he's literally just a fucking dude.

Okay he's a bit of a one-man army archetype but he is otherwise limited by being human. Also, when Rubie and I calculated his height he's standing at at least 6'5". So. Have fun with this beefcake.

Anyway, a short backstory is that he's a General in Ezera's order of knights, very cool and neat, and he's just a dork. This man is just a goofball who doesn't like when people are sad and he loves to tell jokes. He can be very serious oftentimes but also why be serious when can be joking?? Also highkey obsessed with Ras canonically, dwbi.

The bigger lore meat is that his homeworld Orbis is constantly under attack by the Archdemon, because worlds must always have an apocalypse you see. Every time the Archdemon wins, the world gets reset by the goddess Diche and starts anew... and Vildred only just learnt that he's lived six similar lives with different endings every time. He's usually telling Ras that he'll die for him and Ras is like "please stop doing this"... Ras seeks him out in every timeline. It's homoerotic. Anyway, Vildred specifically is taken from the end of the 6th timeline before he died there, the current game is on timeline 7. We will Talk about timeline 7 when I canon update in X months. :)

For Stix: He and Ras live in the dojo south of the river, across the way from the school/rec center. The boys are kissing now. Vildred is grappling with knowing that he's lived a bunch of other lifetimes, including the one from past lives here, and all of them included Ras. He's just kind of Gay right now and will continue to be so.

Plans: Plan 1: Make sure the Woodcrawlers don't get Ras.
Plan 2: ?? ? ? he doesnt know, survive

This is a normal day on Orbis. Kind of. He and Ras are sort of isolated on their side of the river, so I imagine their home will be invaded by the home invaders and he'll have to fight his way out of it. Dojo is evil ground for right now, he's going to head back to the inn but regularly go outside to patrol and kill some enemies before rounding back. And if he gets a little root he has to rip out... that's his problem and he will do so in his inn room's bathtub :) Yayyyyy gore

Character: Flamebringer
Canon: Arknights
CR: Flamebringer... sighs. Okay. Flamebringer is a Sarkaz ("demon" but that word is also a slur for them) (he will get Touchy about this) from Kazdel, which is where a lot but not all Sarkaz are from. Kazdel is a shithole of a country, like they don't even have flowers there it's real bad. Formerly, he could hear the voices of other dead Sarkaz and could feel their emotions/see their history, but that's no longer the case since he's been canon updated to Chapter 15. He's a little :| about his brain being quiet rn.

Flamebringer himself is someone who views any battle that isn't life or death as a waste of his time/abilities, and he's a "one-man army" archetype. His ultimate goal is one day to find a fight so good that he can die happy in battle, in this pseudo-suicidal way. He's not actively seeking them, but you have to be Worth Fighting in his eyes for him to raise his blade. As his name hints at, he's very proficient in fire-based magic. He's also Infected with Oripathy (stage 3 now due to Suri) (this man is dying actively, essentially at the point of no return now). For the new folks here Oripathy is basically cancer, but with rocks. Cutting yourself on the rocks on his skin will transmit the illness; he normally keeps them bandaged as much as he can, but the ones on his face are now unruly and hard to deal with without bandaging most of his head.

Kazdelian Sarkaz are the Arknights equivalent of Jewish & other Abrahamic religions, and they aren't even trying to hide this fact with FB because he wears a Star of David necklace. If you ever ask me about this factoid I will go on for 2 hours you have been warned.

As for Stix: He runs the tat/piercing shop, he lives in the bunny bakery with Ezell who is his HUSBAND NOW!!! and he will kill for, he helps out in the greenhouses... Suri took his left eye from him via Oripathy nodules growing into his optical nerve and severing it. Due to his Stage 3 Oripathy he's usually in intense amounts of daily pain, and sometimes hacks up shards of it in private. His worst nightmare is dying to this, so :')

He and Wolfwood are fucking. They're in an unlabelled relationship which is a shorthand way of saying they don't want to call themselves boyfriends or anything but they are weird about each other in ways that are unhinged and undescribable.

Plans: at some point rubie and i are doing his and ezell's wedding i swear to god but know by january they are husbands ok. sorry for the long hiatus with him i have been tired but i'll be back on my game soon.

anyway happy fucking wedding there are woodcrawlers! While he's cut off from his Arts and extremely pissed off about it, this will not stop him from trying to slaughter things. Or smoking and using his cigarettes to set things on fire.

I'm making this joke completely seriously but I think it would be funny if he had a pile of dead Woodcrawlers that he lit up in a bonfire. This will almost certainly piss the Iris off I think.

Anyway, Mr. "Death Dealer" Ray here is from a Canon-AU in E7 where there just is no Heir of the Covenant (Ras) and the world is, somehow, even fucking worse. There are several ongoing wars. He is actively being manipulated by a woman who is immune to his poisons while also trying to manipulate her back (and poison her so he can dissect her). People are dying left and right. He is NOT NICEYS he is a mad scientist and he's extremely self-serving. This man is a freak obsessed with conquering death, whatever the fuck that means. He is also highly yandere. Yay. The thing is this guy could easily make actual medicine but he simply chooses not to do this, being a good boy was too hard he had to be a freak covered in blood instead.

One day I'll TDM the version of Ray that's from the mainline canon and everyone will be like wow he's so normal and sweet :) and i'll be like haha yeah

Plans: anyway, what a nice month to TDM a guy like this

He will be Around. He will be Dissecting Things. some of you in this game are immune to poisons (I THINK LIKE 3 PEOPLE???) so if you could just chug this for him that would be great— let him closer he's normal he has a normal knife it's totally not a scalpel

That said he will be Mildly helpful with anyone who needs a root extraction because he is Still A Doctor despite being a creep about it, he has to at least appear somewhat like he's not planning to turn everyone into living corpses!! so yk if you need impromptu surgery he's uh. there. maybe see someone else but if you want TDM AC he's here— (he is also 100% likely to just lock you in a room to see how the prognosis of DRD works so that's also an option if you want)

CR: Elder Faerie is a Cookie and former ex-king of the Faerie Kingdom. though he's passed on his title and powers to White Lily Cookie, he's not helpless. he will most likely try to fight off the weird Woodcrawlers as best as he can. he was having a great time on holiday with everyone until Silent Salt Cookie revealed the secret of the Beasts' captivity. normally, he wouldn't mind divulging his own part in this, but Salt made certain to tell Shadow Milk and the others that the imprisoning was all his doing, and left Elder Faerie's involvement out of it. Pavlova Cookie knows the truth, and may be the only other one who does.

as far as other CR goes, he spent a lot of time knitting with Akaza for fun. he's also got a little dashie named Puck (not to be confused with Senjuro's mimikyu. that's also named Puck). he got this baby from Ain and he loves it. goes with him everywhere. :)
Plans: what if. Tree Guardian Become Tree. horrifying. i plan on him getting the Deep Root Disease. i'm sorry. mercy-killing option goes to Salt or Lily. but not Shadow Milk. points to eyes, points to Jami. no three for three! he can try, though. Puck will stay with its master until he is put out of his misery.

Character: White Lily Cookie
Canon: Cookie Run Kingdom
CR: The accidental head of the clinic, a newly deaf mage who is second only to the creator of magic himself (and perhaps her evil twinclonefragment). She's kind, gentle and wise, having unwittingly taken on a motherly role to most of the Grove. At home she is the Hero ~~and basically Goddess~~ of Freedom, an immortal wandering hero wielding the concentrated embodiment of Freedom itself. Her own curiosity and ambition can lead her to ruin... but she tries her hardest to not let that happen here.
Plans: Lily is a medic! Buuuut she specifically is magic healing, so she'll be forced to take more of a backseat. I'm not sure how mean I want to be to her just yet, but she's going to feel... particularly useless without her magic. Will she need rescuing at some point?

CR: The miko of the Moon Shrine, basically engaged to Mayoi! CR: The Insect Hashira, a doctor and psychologist alongside being a poison and medicine specialist. Shinobu is a woman of many talents and a whole lot of rage. Like.

So much rage.

She is canonically ridiculously fast with perhaps the strongest stab/piercing force in the manga! She is however too physically weak to actually decapitate demons. Which is the only way other than sunlight to kill them.

So she poisons them so effectively that they die anyways. She rules. Mostly though despite her rage she's a kind and hardworking woman who cares a lot for everyone around her, so...
Plans: ... Shinobu will be tapping in as a doctor instead of Lily as she is, like. Just a gal. Other than her physical prowess. Her main goal is getting/keeping Kyojuro, Senjuro and Muichiro at the inn when they aren't killing things together, though of course she wants to protect everyone at the inn. I will not be killing her since her canon point IS her death, but she may get fucked up as a treat, mood depending.
