OOC UPDATES

Short update, slow month, happy holidays if you celebrate!
Lavvy has joined the mod team as a list mod! Everyone give it up for your newest overlord Lavvy! Yay!
As a result, some things related to how our pages are maintained and look may be getting a slight overhaul. We will point at them all rapidly as they come because we love and appreciate this.
Wolfie will be taking a full (100%) mod hiatus in December because Wolfie is on fire. Any NPC requests through Wolfie’s NPCs will be handwaved for the month of December; ongoing investigations she ran in November will still be tagged/completed.
We have a page about corruption, draconic blessings and a placeholder for the magic system! Please give it a look if you haven’t already.
Casual reminder that November is a check-in month, aaaand so is December! Historically December always is, so enjoy your two free months. Regular AC will resume in January.

SETTING UPDATES

Winter’s bite is worsening, and the animals are beginning to grow scarce again. The lake and river aren’t frozen over completely yet, but if you remember last year… in any case, there will be blizzards throughout the month, and near the end of it, the cold grows bad enough to where even our native snowbirds might find the temperatures unforgiving.
Dark Cacao and his chosen companions have successfully hatched the seven dragons, and early to mid-month will be safe to move to the Grove.
With this, draconic blessings are fully available to the rest of the game as well (see the above linked page). Draconic blessings have no thread cost but you must speak to the hatchlings for it, and it must be threaded. The thread can be short, don’t worry. As a recap, the blessings are permanent and as follows:
- Strength: horns and scales visually, and increased durability.
- Balance: a tail, possibly prehensile.
- Flight: wings, capable of flight.
- Sight: dragon eyes (either straight up lizard or something akin to the unique eyes in Flight Rising, if you need ideas) with enhanced vision.
Those with keen eyes may note that there seem to be less Seaborn in the river. Weird!
There is a heavy feeling of something watching you from all angles, but it is hard to find the source.

PLOT UPDATES

The merchants- Ydalir especially- will be hosting a feast and something of a cultural exchange, including Ydalir just yoinking things out of her mirror from your world to eat and share. With a bit of magic, everyone can partake in whatever they’d like! Yes even you, Loop.
Everyone is invited and while it’s not enforced, you may make a tall shadow woman sad if you don’t stop by for a bite.
As the temperature drops, the guardians seem to grow drowsy. Callan will temporarily stop living in the lake as he finds the temperatures unforgiving, and will primarily be stationed in Siffrin’s fish tank. Sinann will still be active in the river, but will be seen less frequently. Moder will be active enough to conscript Wolfwood into being Saint Nick again, but otherwise will be sleeping. Aurora will transform into a tiny bird and slip in with the Church pigeons. Zahliya remains semi-active and will conduct his regular patrols, but will stay inside the Church rather than on top of it.
On the topic of a certain gargoyle guest, Zonari will largely sleep in the barn and not be seen much. She’s also hibernating.
We have a Christmas gifts thread below, so feel free to put what your character wants for Christmas down! Providing a brief list is fine; note that the mods will only pick one of these things. It can be an item from home that would cost 5 threads or under, so a medium item regain, or something from the usual BAC store for under 5 threads, or something you completely make up for fun (a niche book, a really cool rock, a plushie, idk your life). If physical items aren’t your character’s thing, we can work with that in some way; just write the idea down anyway.
- Note that we will tally up the gifts the day before the event goes live (Dec. 5th), so if you don’t put anything down, you will receive a handwaved generic gift instead of something personalized to your character.
- These will be delivered by Wolfwood yes Chi we’re conscripting him again (you asked for it).

I want to RP so bad but my brain is on fire so I will write these plotting posts and then if I wind up doing nothing this month again at least I wrote plotting posts.

Character: Ain (Bluhen)

Canon: Elsword

CR: Ain is an angel who doesn't look like one unless he's in that specific form, but largely most people here either know or have figured it out. He's no longer trying to hide it like he does in canon because there's No Point to doing that, so hi if I get castmates in the future ig he's just out here like this. Anyway, largely his goal back home was to stop the world from ending (done) and defeat the evil cult that wants to end the world (in progress), and also he's made of God Rock Substance (the El) which in this game's terms basically means he's made of nuclear energy I guess. I don't know how to explain Elsword to people anymore, I've been here 15 years—

Ain is a healer, he's sweet but can be passive-aggressive and generally loves to fuck with people, he has a difficult time grasping emotions often, he has an anxiety disorder, and his definition of friendship is incredibly nebulous. Some of you have already gotten this but Ain very rarely registers negative CR, you can yell at him all you want but he'll sit there like :D we're friends! because his canon group of idiots are always arguing about something and this is just friendship to him. He... has only been around humans for 5 years he doesn't get it, okay.

Currently for Stix: He part-time works at the clinic alongside PV, but most of the time he can be found at the tailor shop which he runs with Isa. He lives at the bunny bakery with Ezell & FB too, but his upgraded inn room is still used sometimes for more storage for his plants + his animals use it as their own room sometimes. He has a lot of animals now.

Plans: Like every other character I have at this game, Ain will be getting dragon blessings. He'll get Strength (scales & horns) + balance (tail). This will probably heavily interfere with his angel biology and make him look a bit whacked out, please look forward to YET ANOTHER creature design for him from me because this is all I'm good for anymore.

Other than that, for cultural exchange: food on Elrios is weird and he's going to happily share all of it with you. Off the top of my head, we have: water that's pink (marketed for women), blue starfruits that grow in a land full of robots, salad made out of spicy leaves that hurts to eat, "water served in a suspicious crystal", the works. Since Elrios is basically South Korea under a very thin coat of paint and a fantasy genre, there will be normal things too, but the weird foods are funnier to subject people to.

Also if he bit you last month while he was AU'd he's sorry. He will try not to do that again.

Character: Gnosis Edelweiss(-Silverash)

Canon: Arknights

CR: Gnosis is a Liberi (bird) (specifically a black-necked crane) who does A Lot Of Science, like Technology Is All He Cares About Sometimes, mainly preferring to stay indoors and be introverted and keep to himself so he can work. He is Very Autistic and has a mansplaining problem. He and Enciodes are married. Back on Terra, their homeworld, they run Karlan Trade, which is a trading company stationed in Kjerag, and Gnosis is also the speaker of Kjerag's parliament. Very important-seeming for a guy that wants to sit in a chair and rot with his science all day.

He will be 37 on Dec 11th, old ass man.

For Stix: He sticks to the lab doing research, and he also lives in a small living space off to the side of it. Between him and Enciodes they have Unci and Tenzin, respectively a baby snow leopard and a hunting hawk, but Gnosis also has two weird fish in his lab that he takes care of — one of them a betta fish that's Just an eye with fins from the Alpha Mart event, and the other a Peeper from Subnautica from that event. He loves his freak-ass fish. He also went through an alcoholism stint but he's largely trying to quit now, do not make him relapse we're manifesting good health for him.

Plans: Dragon-blessing wise: Gnosis is going to accidentally get this, Amity & I were joking that he'd say something like "oh that's cool" to them and the dragon would take this wrong and be like "you can also be cool :)". So now he will have the gifts of balance (tail) & flight (wings). Natively he has tailfeathers already, so the lizard tail (also semi-feathered) will spring up underneath those, and the wings will be half? 75%? feathered too.

Cultural-share wise: Kjerag (a mix of various Scandinavian countries) has lots of fun foods that he'll share. Terra in general does, but Gnosis will largely stick to what's familiar and share that. Delicious.

Character: Elliot "Passenger" Glover

Canon: Arknights

CR: Passenger is a Liberi (specifically a passenger pigeon) (which are extinct) who (checks notes)... is Columbian (American) but spent a majority of his life starting from childhood in Sargon (nebulously "every Arabic country that exists"). Part of that life was spent with his mentor Thorne, who was killed by a Lord Ameer ("Sargonian guy with a lot of political power/status"). Passenger then spent TWENTY YEARS!! TWENTY FUCKING YEARS!! on a revenge plot that involved burning the city & black market of Ibut, which he built up with his own hands, to the ground, while said Lord Ameer was trapped there. He started this revenge plot when he was a child. Also detonated an Originium bomb part in his hands which is how he got Infected with Oripathy (rock cancer). Arknights is hard to explain succinctly, y'all.

He has an unhealthy obsession with Sesa/they are now engaged yaaay, and he has a childhood version of himself living in his brain who talks to him. I simply refer to him as "Little Elliot". If you can read minds or etc you might get to hear him talking, he's a nice boy. Passenger is not.

These days Passenger lives in the workshop with Sesa and owns the Magic Lamp. He is otherwise pretty quiet; technically he works on machinery and lightning-shooting devices and things like that, but since he gets unattached to his projects quickly (unlike Gnosis) I rarely bring this up. It's safe to assume most of the time he's putting his creative impulses into food instead, because there's simply no need for him to make 1 billion scrap projects here. He died in October and has been nebulously Around but not entirely social since then, mainly sticking to his usual haunts. I'd love to claim he's been avoiding the Triguns since but he doesn't have an avoidant personality type so he's still here like hi buy my coffee that I grow thanks.

Plans: Dragon-wise: He is getting simple strength (scales/horns) & sight (eyes), because his ass needs to see danger before it comes. Clearly.

Event-wise: He already has engaged in some cultural sharing with the cafe, but there are lots of other Terran foods and things he doesn't make, so time to share even More things.

Character: Flamebringer

Canon: Arknights

CR: Flamebringer... sighs. Okay. Flamebringer is a Sarkaz ("demon" but that word is also a slur for them) (he will get Touchy about this) from Kazdel, which is where a lot but not all Sarkaz are from. Kazdel is a shithole of a country, like they don't even have flowers there it's real bad. Currently but not in the future whenever I canon update him, he hears the voices of other dead Sarkaz and can feel their emotions/see their history, he did not consent to this so his brain is always "full". People who can read minds/sense spirits can probably also hear them, they're called the myriad souls and they suck a little. Flamebringer himself is someone who views any battle that isn't life or death as a waste of his time/abilities, and he's a "one-man army" archetype. His ultimate goal is one day to find a fight so good that he can die happy in battle, in this pseudo-suicidal way. He's not actively seeking them, but you have to be Worth Fighting in his eyes for him to raise his blade. As his name hints at, he's very proficient in fire-based magic, like half the people here, because we need more pyromaniacs... and he's also Infected with Oripathy (stage 2) (this man is dying actively).

Kazdelian Sarkaz are the Arknights equivalent of Jewish & other Abrahamic religions, and they aren't even trying to hide this fact with FB because he wears a Star of David necklace. All of this is to say he will Not be invested in Christmas this year lmao.

As for Stix: He runs the tat/piercing shop, he lives in the bunny bakery with Ezell who is his bf and he will kill for, he helps out in the greenhouses (mostly the one at the clinic because he thinks PV is cool, but he'll help with the one in the school too)... and he's very sorry for wandering into the woods last month after saying tons of (fantasy) racist shit due to the AUing. His ukulele apology will probably (not) happen.

Plans: Dragon-wise: Flamebringer will be getting flight (wings) (because I want him to have wings shut UP) & strength (scales & ...additional horns i guess?). The man does not need to be stronger but idc I think he'd enjoy being able to throw Moder.

Culture-share wise: It's time for FOOD! As far as Arknights goes they don't mention much about Kazdelian culture other than "god it sucks here" and "why does every country come to ours and crush our country stop doing that", so I'll have to pull from the country's real-world inspirations, but! Exciting, come eat and drink with him. He will probably be heavily drunk at one point because party hard.

Not Seeking: The usual death/angst pls be nice to me, don't be that nice to FB but be a little nice ok? ok.
