OOC UPDATES

• Short update, slow month, happy holidays if you celebrate!
• Lavvy has joined the mod team as a list mod! Everyone give it up for your newest overlord Lavvy! Yay!
• As a result, some things related to how our pages are maintained and look may be getting a slight overhaul. We will point at them all rapidly as they come because we love and appreciate this.
• Wolfie will be taking a full (100%) mod hiatus in December because Wolfie is on fire. Any NPC requests through Wolfie’s NPCs will be handwaved for the month of December; ongoing investigations she ran in November will still be tagged/completed.
• We have a page about corruption, draconic blessings and a placeholder for the magic system! Please give it a look if you haven’t already.
• Casual reminder that November is a check-in month, aaaand so is December! Historically December always is, so enjoy your two free months. Regular AC will resume in January.

SETTING UPDATES

• Winter’s bite is worsening, and the animals are beginning to grow scarce again. The lake and river aren’t frozen over completely yet, but if you remember last year… in any case, there will be blizzards throughout the month, and near the end of it, the cold grows bad enough to where even our native snowbirds might find the temperatures unforgiving.
• Dark Cacao and his chosen companions have successfully hatched the seven dragons, and early to mid-month will be safe to move to the Grove.
• With this, draconic blessings are fully available to the rest of the game as well (see the above linked page). Draconic blessings have no thread cost but you must speak to the hatchlings for it, and it must be threaded. The thread can be short, don’t worry. As a recap, the blessings are permanent and as follows:
  • Strength: horns and scales visually, and increased durability.
  • Balance: a tail, possibly prehensile.
  • Flight: wings, capable of flight.
  • Sight: dragon eyes (either straight up lizard or something akin to the unique eyes in Flight Rising, if you need ideas) with enhanced vision.
• Those with keen eyes may note that there seem to be less Seaborn in the river. Weird!
• There is a heavy feeling of something watching you from all angles, but it is hard to find the source.

PLOT UPDATES

• The merchants- Ydalir especially- will be hosting a feast and something of a cultural exchange, including Ydalir just yoinking things out of her mirror from your world to eat and share. With a bit of magic, everyone can partake in whatever they’d like! Yes even you, Loop.
• Everyone is invited and while it’s not enforced, you may make a tall shadow woman sad if you don’t stop by for a bite.
• As the temperature drops, the guardians seem to grow drowsy. Callan will temporarily stop living in the lake as he finds the temperatures unforgiving, and will primarily be stationed in Siffrin’s fish tank. Sinann will still be active in the river, but will be seen less frequently. Moder will be active enough to conscript Wolfwood into being Saint Nick again, but otherwise will be sleeping. Aurora will transform into a tiny bird and slip in with the Church pigeons. Zahliya remains semi-active and will conduct his regular patrols, but will stay inside the Church rather than on top of it.
• On the topic of a certain gargoyle guest, Zonari will largely sleep in the barn and not be seen much. She’s also hibernating.
• We have a Christmas gifts thread below, so feel free to put what your character wants for Christmas down! Providing a brief list is fine; note that the mods will only pick one of these things. It can be an item from home that would cost 5 threads or under, so a medium item regain, or something from the usual BAC store for under 5 threads, or something you completely make up for fun (a niche book, a really cool rock, a plushie, idk your life). If physical items aren’t your character’s thing, we can work with that in some way; just write the idea down anyway.
  • Note that we will tally up the gifts the day before the event goes live (Dec. 5th), so if you don’t put anything down, you will receive a handwaved generic gift instead of something personalized to your character.
  • These will be delivered by Wolfwood yes Chi we’re conscripting him again (you asked for it).

I want to RP so bad but my brain is on fire so I will write these plotting posts and then if I wind up doing nothing this month again at least I wrote plotting posts.

Merlot's one and only character

Character: A.B.A

Canon: Guilty Gear

CR: A.B.A is a homunculus whose creator was kidnapped by the government before she got a chance to wake up, so she spent the first ten years of her life alone, bumbling away in a locked up mansion. As one can imagine, this killed any and all social skills she would've otherwise developed and is now terrified of everything. When she finally did leave, she fell in love with a giant demon axe because he looked like a key (her special interest of choice) and immediately declared herself married to him. She will never shut up about him, she's not sorry, and her life goal is to get him a human body so she can live out all her self-shipping fantasies.

She bites.

A lot...happened to her this month. A.B.A once again has a giant (non-sentient) key and will never be seen without it. Please assume she's always dragging this thing around. She also got wings and a tail and is now convinced she'll be reborn as a dragon in the next life, so please don't let her die anytime soon, she will not leave the garden. Awesome. Great. Love playing a reasonable character.

Plans: A.B.A will want to keep taking care of the dragon babies, especially after the dragons have been so nice to her. This is the first time A Society™ has ever accepted her for who she is, bites and all, and she really has...no idea how to handle it! Which is probably why she's going so hard on the dragon thing. She wouldn't be A.B.A if she didn't get weird and obsessive about something she likes.

As for the event? Uhhhhhhhh...idk! A.B.A doesn't have a culture to share with anyone! She's probably never celebrated Christmas! That isn't to say she doesn't know what it and other winter holidays are, she absolutely does, but the holiday season for her was probably admiring lights with Paracelsus and maybe being a little more snuggly. Then moving on. Girl was constantly travelling, okay? That said, she most likely won't be getting anyone any gifts, the idea simply wouldn't cross her mind. WHOOPS. Maybe next year, if she feels bad enough this year.

Character: Timekeeper Cookie

Canon: Cookie Run

CR: Timekeeper is one of the former Cookies, albeit not from quite the same game as everyone else here - not that it matters; she's a time traveling weirdo whose moral scruples are in shambles, so she's seen every cookie's timeline already anyway! More specifically, she has incredible time powers, which are unfortunately mega nerfed in the Grove by the fact that time is rather messed up here. She hates it, thanks. She liked cheating at life. She's also Director of the Time Balance Department, an organization back in her world that manages timelines and keeps them from diverging into bad ones. Not that she's told anyone other than Dipper this - but her AUed self might have let it slip a few times to other people in November, whoops!!!

She has her own place here now, a clock tower in the middle of the northern part of town. The clock doesn't really obey anything due to /gestures at all of the Groves' messed up time, but it does provide a more private place for her to exist and work on her own agendas.

TK isn't very grounded in the way most people think and comes off as unsettling most of the time. Her opinions and actions tend to be intense and morally askew, and when she grows fond of someone, she's just as intense (and morally askew) about it. It probably says a lot that the people she's actively befriended here include Dipper, who has been mired in the most wild supernatural bullshit for entirely too long, and Loop, because irrevocably distorted from their original selves by time shenanigans buddies.

Plans: Dragon wise, I plan on having her pick up the Strength and Sight blessings. (She's not fond of the dragon babies it's just an alliance of convenience because she's also pissed at Suri she promises. Really. Why don't you believe her.) Sight in particular might have some fucky interactions with her left eye that's all messed up from temporal corruption, so that could be fun.

Otherwise, ohhhhhhh boy. After the AU nonsense in November she's uh. Not gonna be great. Again. Having a bit of an existential crisis, really. I'm debating whether to have her just quietly hole up or let her powers run wild for a second as she changes back, but either way she's going to nope out and go heavily antisocial for most of the month. (Worry not, she'll be there for the feast and exchange still!)

...but she DID promise she'd make something for the dragons while she was AUed. Sigh. So that'll be occupying her time, as well. She's going to do her damnedest to not let on that it's her being all soft on the babies though, so there may be attempts at anonymous deliveries late in the month. I have a few ideas for what she might make, but if any dragon parents have suggestions as well I'm all ears!

Character: Dark Cacao Cookie
Canon: Cookie Run: Kingdom
CR: Gruff serious former cookie turned human now turned slightly lizard-y. King guy and dad guy who is an immortal demi-god with depression. Former adventurer who is finally forced to live like a real person again in Sticks and is coming to realize some real personal flaws.

He just needs more friends, he's not the most social but thanks to various game events (and a hiatus lol) he's been isolating a lot. Tho the dragon egg month has helped a lot.

Plans: Finishing up caring for and weaning the dragons. Getting used to his new body parts (strength and balance, so he has a tail and horns now lol), and coming to terms with certain Things with his cookie cr he's trying really hard not to think about
