a quick intermission!

Hello current and potential players! As many of you know, we've recently had a very large reveal during an information share meeting: specifically, the history and mythos of the world of Sticks and Bones. As this reveal was, both in and out of game, a lot, we've decided to summarize it- though all clarifying questions must be asked icly on the post or at NPC contact.

We're also going to include some plothooks we want to either confirm the capability of depending on player interest, or may have been forgotten in the middle of everything- we've all been really busy lately, after all!

 

THE LORE DROP

An untold millenia ago, when Moder herself was but an infant, there were two suns and the moon, and with them, corresponding gods. One is confirmed to be Beiwe, the goddess represented by the statue Beat and Joshua discovered and then moved to the Grove's center with the help of Felicity, while the other sun was left nameless and the moon has yet to be named, as Moder didn't know her as well. Through unknown circumstances, the Second Sun killed the former Sky Guardian and launched a war against life itself, with Beiwe leading the charge against him. He killed her mount, the Flame Dragon, and left her weakened but able to escape. While Beiwe recovered and began scheming with the Moon, the Second Sun began killing all life. Mankind and all land animals went extinct.

Using a temple that their followers had constructed before all of this, back when the Second Sun was honored, Beiwe and the Moon trapped the Second Sun within, cutting off his power and sealing him inside forever more, and struck him from history, save for the occasional iconography of two suns that were left intact, to further weaken him. After which, they began to restore life to the planet with the Moon's magic.

Centuries passed and humans and animals began to walk the earth again, and then centuries more occured, as the known history that Heimr, Ydalir and Nene would be familiar with. No one knew of the Second Sun. Not until the merchant-adventurers released him.

In short, the brother of Beiwe killed a guardian, a goddess's dragon and nearly his sister, and brought about an apocalypse before being sealed by Beiwe and the moon, but only Moder and beings as old as she is would remember this.

 

 

And here are some plothooks and threads for everyone to chew on! As this game is player-lead, these will rely on your own initiative, but everything listed is something we're keeping in mind and have at least one way to do. All you have to do is act- we're more than willing to work with you!

• Callan's lost lover, Terho- players expressed an interest in reviving him.
• Reviving the Sky Guardian through faith and belief
• Investigating Terho's cabin by the lake- Phantom has expressed interest in this, so if you'd like, hop on board there!
• Beiwe's dragon
• Arming Zahliya further
• Corruption and especially the cure
• Moon seance
• Moon church
• Stars and their shrines
• Renard in the woods
• The Cosmic Serpant and the Sea of Stars
• The Temple's location

We appreciate your patience and your energy, so we hope that both things here help everyone out. Heimr will be back as an accessible NPC soon as well, and the mods will be touching back on old mechanics to improve and finally release them as well. Thank you!

Pure Vanilla is 100% going to be looking into the corruption further and looking for a cure for it. What he doesn't know is he tried that before when it originally happened and oopsie things happened and that's how he died.

Please give us notes on all of his efforts! It should be public knowledge that Zahliya, especially when strengthened and using the Sun Shard, can burn away corruption, while Moon Magic halts it- but there are many options, we just need to know what you're doing so we can guide you to whatever answer you get!

Also by the way if anyone else wants to join the cabin investigation let me know because a four-person party is ideal (although not necessary) (but this is in case Livio tries to smooch Callan and gets eaten by him) (essentially you'll get to prevent that from happening, otherwise we might have try to out-sing Callan).

More than four is alright too, I guess...more people to keep Callan occupied while some of us snuck into Terho's cabin for the vine. But anyways. As the mods have aptly written on the post, please feel free to jump in! (And thank you very much to the mods for this great summary post, it's extremely helpful indeed.)
